Hi folks, have a new podiatry nurse who made contact yesterday by phone. introduced herself and said she had seen a note on my file of me complaining of intense foot & knee pain; had anything been done? Lots of Q & A; what, if anything did I want to know and/or ask? a bit off telling off (justified) and some laughing. Fixed a 1:1 telephone appointment but phone sooner if I think it necessary. What a difference! I feel better and more confident about coping now with my RA. Anyone else had a similar experience ? Take care folks and thanks for being out there, I no longer feel so isolated due to NRAS as I am alone with no family support and unemployed now.

It makes such a difference when someone is actually interested in helping with the problems, rather than minimising the complaints that we have and making us feel we are complaining about nothing.

Great to hear that you've had contact from someone and they were supportive.

I've found my clinic pretty good; nurse helpline works well and I've had a couple of OT appointments after nurse referrals which were very useful.

I was told that I'd be referred to Podiatry but when I checked a year later (!) I was told that I had to self-refer 🙄 The good news is that I was seen quickly once I did, he was helpful (despite seeming a bit dismissive initially) and gave me some insoles; he also told me that as the referral only stays open for 6 months, I should ask for another appointment after 5 months and keep going back so that they can keep an eye on things.

As with so many things, there seems to be a lot of variation between areas and health authorities so we often have to find out what happens in our own area and be quite pro-active if we are to get the best treatments available.

Glad to hear that you're feeling less alone now you've found NRAS and this forum; it's so good to be able to come on here and chat to others who really understand 😊
