So..... update I see the rheumy nurses tomorrow to start the full treatment for my RA. Feel really nervous now. I am sure I will be fine. No getting off the bus now.

Rheumatology nurses are specialist nurses, so if you feel unsure of anything make sure you ask. I have found them to be a godsend, so all the best for tomorrow. Hugs xx

Hi nattynooo

Please don't be nervous,I know it seems like a massive step in starting these types of treatments, but they really are tried and tested ways of dealing with our diseases. I also never knew what to expect from my nurse meetings as I just got an appointment randomly when they couldn't move my consultants appointment forward, but it was the best thing to happen to me - I find her to be the most helpful and sincere member of my medical support(along with my gp) and I actually got much more done through seeing her in one appointment than over two years of consultants appointments!!

Hope it goes well tomorrow/today,and if there's anything at all that you don't feel comfortable with, speak up,and I'm pretty sure that she'll do everything she can to help put you at ease and answer any questions you have.

Good luck, and let's hope this 'bus' is the right route for you to start getting better soon

Good luck. Don't be nervous be upbeat, something good is happening and with luck you will soon feel loads better, but remember to be patient all treatments seem to take time to work! I find the nurses more approachable than my consultant so ask all the questions you need to.

Hello, good luck tomorrow. Please make sure you have a written everything you may want to ask on a list and go through it with the specialist nurse. Both of you will get more from the appointment. I found that it's very disappointing coming away from an appointment with unresolved questions and without a written list that will happen. All the very best.

Hey Nattynoo - Just remember that we have all been through it and generally we all feel better for the treatment, no matter which path we ended up taking. Know that it will take a while for you to feel much effect, but you will see little bright spots start to occur even though they might be really short at first. Best luck in your first appointment!

Hi all the nurse was fantastic. We start on Monday with 15mg of Methotrexate and then a day later folic acid. Then in 4 weeks we start sulfasalosine too. Just waiting for one test result back for chicken pox. Then set to start taking it Monday!! She answered all my questions didn't rush us at all. We were with her for an hour. Feel fully ready now

That's absolutely fantastic news nattynooo - couldn't be more pleased for you than if it were myself having the treatment!!! All the very best, and just remember that there will be stops and starts along the way,but that's all perfectly natural, and if ever you feel the need to let rip for whatever reason, even if something hasn't gone quite as well one day than it did the previous,we're all still here to support you too.

Wishing you all the best
