After eighteen months in isolation I decided to “take the plunge” and go swimming.

After fighting my way into my costume I was too exhausted to get into the car!

Now booked for Friday the water awaits 🧜🏻‍♀️

You’ve inspired me to get in the water again!

That is good news. I feel like a tortoise or should it be turtle sticking my head out of the shell to rejoin the real world again😉

Good for you Green. 🏊‍♀️

Thank you. I have always loved to swim if very slowly- more like a wooden plank floating rather than Olympic gymnast but looking forward to it. 😌

😂😂 I'm sure you're not like that but as long as you enjoy it, that's the most important thing. xx

What a shame! We have road works starting this week. They have had eighteen months when we were all locked away and now where we are all trying to venture out they are keeping us in again😬

Green230461 profile image
Green230461 in reply to

Typical- our local authorities are closing the roads to make improvements. They do need improving but why didn’t they do it when we were all locked away?🤔

That is such a shame poor planning indeed😞

Well have a rest after shopping so you can still go to the pool!

Aww I hope you have a fantastic time Green and I know my cossie won’t fit me now since last year so it’s just as well my hydro pool is being refurbished. It’s not going to be open to clubs and private sessions till early 2022. Just for children from the special school it is in this autumn when it reopens, My hydro day used to be Friday and I would go to a hotel pool on Sundays. I hope you really enjoy .. lots! It’s been 17 months since I’ve been anywhere and can’t until later in the year (my immunity is so poor) but thinking about going to the pool and other places end of the year keeps me going. 💗

Last time I went into the pool I was mobile and wore contacts. Now I have glasses and a stick ....Hope the lifeguard is awake😃🧜🏻‍♀️

Aww take a float or a pool noodle if often they’ve got them out for use, and do some exercises with that until you get your confidence. Have a great time.

Green230461 profile image
Green230461 in reply toNeonkittie17

Pool noodle is that a plastic bendy thing? That is a good idea and it could give me confidence thank you 😊

Yes I used one for many exercises and to use it like a little float holding it like a U shape round me practising my leg kicks.

I’ve been going three times a week loving it. My joints are screaming at me but hoping they’ll get used to it again. Have to my cossie was a little on the snug side after so long 🥺

Hello Caza , I too love swimming, its the only enviroment I can move in without experiencing pain, unfortunately I overdone it ( 5 times in one week ) and I now have contact dermatitis on my shins due to the cholrine in the water. It itches like hell at times,so enjoy yourself but don,t over do it on a weekly basis.

Thank you for the heads up my body has not seen chlorine for a year and a half so will make sure I shower and only go once a week😃

Enjoy the moment. I still make do with hot and cold showers!

Green230461 profile image
Green230461 in reply tostbernhard

Is that just the weather? It has taken me six months to get the courage to go out. I thought bugs can’t live in chlorine can they?...... hope not anyway😌

Hi I have found a sports complex by me, David Lloyd, with. Totally stunning out door heated pool. I am rubbish at it but I feel supper charged after a swim. It maybe the endorphins but I feel so relaxed refreshed and dare I say energised afterwards. Hope it helps you too.

Green230461 in reply toWraf22

Thank you! I have relied on chocolate for my daily fix so I reckon I will float without much effort with all the additional blubber.......oh what a delightful image ,not. 🤔

I fixed up to have some hydrotherapy - it's marvellous. Then I rang the local leisure centre to nag them about re-starting the fit aqua that I used to (pre-Covid) go to regularly but has not been on since. To my delight I found that they were about to start it that day. So I've re-started that too this week and am feeling so much more positive about the prospect of getting fitter again.

That is really good news and exactly why I have decided to swim. I have been on baricitinib since Christmas and feel so much better for it that I thought I would take thee plunge so to speak😬

Roll on Friday. To get back in the water is one of my goals after I have my surgery, I can almost feel the water taking the weight off my weary bones just writing about it.

Do enjoy and let us know how you get on ? 🧜‍♀️🏊‍♀️

I has a shoulder replacement just before Covid hit us so I don’t know how I will get on. I hope my new arm is just as good if not better 😃

Thank you, that is what I thought. I need to do something to shift this covid weight and I am not as mobile as I was as I use a stick now so I thought it might be useful and also get me away from boring daytime tv and the depressing news. 😃

snoopy29 profile image

That's good , I bought a tbreadmill to use the other days that I don't go swimming and I love it as I can hold on and walk as slow or fast as I can and I can watch TV at the same time lol

That is a lovely idea. Not sure how I would cope with a stick on a treadmill it would look rather 😆 funny

Enjoy your swimming today! I love swimming and it’s easier for me to do that rather than walking.
