Good morning,

Does anyone else suffer with palpitations whilst on methotrexate ? They can last for up to ten minutes

I have been down to see my gp, which involved an ECG ,and have been referred to cardiology, have contacted my rheumatology team on Thursday after my appointment with my GP but no call back as of yet ,

Thanks

It may be nothing to do with MTX, but just one more of life’s kicks. Did GP not tell you what the ECG revealed?

Hope you get an appointment with cardiology soon. And keep trying rheumy.

Hello ,no just that she was referring me to cardiology, I think its might be stress if I'm honest ,maybe that's the reason I've not heard back from rheumatology with my query ? ,who knows

Doesn't sound likely that it's related to your medication. It needs a firm diagnosis and you may need to be a bit assertive in pushing for this at this time. Although here, even though many NHS procedures have been suspended cardiology is still functioning (although with the usual NHS delays).

One of my side effects with MTX was the start of palpitations but I am one of those that reacts to meds so been a battle for me this year. As long as you have requested feedback from GP and RA clinic they will check and unfortunately if stressing about it this might cause more I believe too. However since off the various RA meds that my body did not like the palpitations have gone. There was also a mix of 2 meds not liking each other as well but as my GP said nothing mixes with MTX in theory!

hi , thank you for your reply big help to know that someone else has had palpitations on mtx don't think my body likes the RA meds either had a reaction to sulfasalazine this year so was taken off that and put on MTX , I mentioned to my GP I've only noticed this since starting the MTX, and she suggested I contact RA nurse still waiting for a call back but in the meantime I've got an appointment with my consultant on the 22nd 🤞

Yes. Don't know if it's MTX or one of the other meds im on. Went thru ECG then Echocardiogram and saw cardiologist. Outcome was I have ectopic heart beats and a short QT interval. No one seems concerned about it but was told it's probably due to RA/meds. Keep pushing tho. All the best.

hello thank you for your reply well i will keep pushing just like I had to with my rash on my legs form sulfalzine , we shouldn't have to keep pushing for all these answers its so frustrating, my Gp surgery didn't even know I was on MTX ,
