I went to my GP recently with palpations! I've had them a good while, had ecg's had a loop monitor fitted twice and it shows nothing to worry about?????? But now they are much more frequent, and quite unbearable at times, and I get to a point where I feel I could pass out! However this time when I was at the surgery I actually had a episode, the GP took my pulse 32 and dropping!! The nurse did another ecg and said my heart rate was slow. Whilst I waited in the surgery the GP faxed the readings to a cardiologist at our local hospital, who said it wasn't heart related, and now I am waiting for blood tests for thyroid !! Help I need answers please or at least some indication what it could be!!

Palpitations
I'm afraid it's not something we can help with, though I understand how concerned you must be. We're not in a position to diagnose, we have Rheumatoid Disease & associated conditions & not medically qualified in anything. If it was me in your position I'd list all my concerns & go back to my GP, he/she's the one who's best placed to answer them.
As you're awaiting tests for thyroid maybe then members over at the HU Thyroid UK site will be able to help explain why that might have been ordered healthunlocked.com/thyroiduk
All the best.
Hi nannybear I've suffered with heart palpitations for ages now I've had all sorts of tests and they can't find anything wrong either they said it's not my thyroid I have actually blacked out too! It's very worrying I hate it when I get them so I know what you are going through let me know how you get on x
Hi Nanny how lucky you are having an episode whilst at the docs, at last the can see exactly what's going on. Hope you get a diagnosis soon and things can be brought under control .
Regards Mike
Hi nannybear
A friend of mine has episodes like you describe and like you she had one at her local hospital whilst attending her hearing aid clinic and actually passed out and fell out of her wheelchair! She was admitted, and has PAH.
I also have palpitations that leave me dizzy, have done for years, and they are apparently quite harmless, not sure I believe that tho!
It can't be harmless to have these regularly surely.
I don't know, I ve had Angiogram, echo cardiograms etc as I had a minor heart attack about ten years ago, it left behind angina, which is really very rare for me now and apparently some ischemic heart disease, and more recently ive been checked because i have a lung condition, I even had one in the middle of an echo but the cardio team dont seem to be overly worried. My thyroid has been checked recently and is normal, no problem there, however, I do have UCTD.
