Methofill pens... what a beast

Look at the size of that !

When I first saw it I didn't know if I should roll it under my arms or inject with it ha ha looks like a roll on deoderant.

I'm not best thrilled to be fair, my prescription specifically said metoject , the chemist did confess the person who submitted the order was wrong but then went to guilt me into taking these as they didn't know how to remedy the situation.

Normally I'm not such a pushover but mama needs her medicine ๐Ÿ˜…

If I didn't normally take it on a Friday I would have left it but time is ticking.

Now to figure out how to use it, can't be that difficult can it. Wish me luck for tomorrow

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ I would be wondering that too. It does look like a beast I agree and I'd be interested to know how you get on with it as I do think sometimes that there will come a day when I am told that they couldn't get Metoject so I'll have to have this or that! Good luck with it anyway. x

Just found this, it might help - scroll down to the diagrams.

Thanks for that, hoping it will be just as easy. Find out tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜

Wowzer! I'd not be happy with that, especially as your script specifies Metoject. I know we're not backwards in coming forwards but you've not been instructed how to administer this type, if we're being pedantic. I'd be tempted to return it to the Pharmacy & insist they issue you with Metoject. They've admitted it was their fault so they need to fix it. I know it may seem petty but it's more due to being provided with something other than what is specified on your script & not a case of being unable to supply Metoject.

Yes, when I was in the chemist I had been standing up for a while and was hurting so just wanted to get it and leave.

Now I am home and have seen it I wish I hadn't taken them but I really need to crack on so will try one tomorrow and if I have trouble will go back.

I am specifically asking for metoject for next one month though.

Ask your GP to put Metoject on your script, it's on mine. x

It is specified as Metoject on her scripts. It was an error on ordering by the Pharmacy.

I understand. Doesnโ€™t do us any favours sometimes RD does it? I hope you don't have any problems with it. Found this video methofill.co.uk/patient It looks like it may be easier to do as you push down with your whole hand rather than a finger or thumb, if you have dexterity problems that is.

If they have made a mistake I would be concerned about whether the drug is the same as youโ€™re used to . I know from experience with another pill that even a different brand of the same drug can be less effective . Itโ€™s a scary looking thing isnโ€™t it ๐Ÿ˜ฌ I think Iโ€™d be calling the head pharmacist to gently insist I get a replacement with tte metoject pens

I've emailed the rhemy nurses just to double check, the pharmacy assistant assured me it was but can't hurt to check.

That is really good, it actually looks better than Metoject. x

It looks like it will definitely be beneficial for those who are unable to/find it tricky to use their thumb to press down the injection release!

I'll be interested to hear what your rheumy nurse says.... I had to have 2 appointments to show me how to use Metoject (which admittedly felt like overkill) and I've just looked at that video which states clearly that you should be shown how to use it by a professional (!) so I wonder if the nurse will approve. ๐Ÿค”

Do let us know ๐Ÿ˜‰

I just heard back (which is quite quick for them) they recommend changing them for the metoject as that is what i have been trained for.

They have given me written instructions for the methofill if I want to use that , but I must check I have enough room in my sharps bin before I use it.

They say its the same methotrexate in the pens.

I am going to use it and see how go. ๐Ÿ˜

They were also disappointed with the pharmacy as prescription does say metoject.

I've now watched the video and it's probably got pros and cons.... With Metoject I was taught to do it more on the side of my thigh at an angle so not on the top at 90ยฐ ๐Ÿค” Quite like the idea of a "click" to tell you that it's finished whereas I was told to wait until the liquid had disappeared and then count to 5.

Hopefully you'll either be equally happy with both or be able to stipulate which type you have in the future. I can understand the nurse not being happy with the pharmacy though.
