Pain all over

Hi all, well over this last few months I seem to be having a flare of pain and swelling! My wrists have been so painful and swollen I seemed to have developed a large swollen lump on the side of my left wrist, my hands were swollen enough that I could not get my rings off and I thought my watch was going to break! I found some wrist braces I got a while ago and now am wearing them on both wrists. The pain then travels to my arms then my shoulders. My fingers and knuckles also suffer. My knees are swollen to double their size and don't get me started on my feet. Ankle bone cannot see now and twice the size. Do you think it would be worth ringing up remey nurse, but don't know what to ask? I think some of my medication has stopped working! After I have finished work my feet are so flipping painful I can hardly walk!! I have gone back to work 3 days a week and don't want to be on the sick! After my work day I crawl home and have to lie down with my feet up, take pain killers and put ibuprofen gel all over my feet, but then my whole body decides to hurt too. I have reposted this as I posted on the wrong forum!

Sorry for the long message. I don't know what to do?

If it was me I'd definitely be ringing the nurse. Take some photos too in case you can send them in some way.

Definitely ring the nurse up x

Definitely ring your disease is active and not controlled. I had a lump on my wrist or was a synovial cyst in had it drained. Best get it checked

Definitely phone your nurse and offer to send photos. It sounds as though your meds are not working as well as they should be.

Carol I had to cover my chefs when both off for a month prelock down and I was crawling home after working in the kitchen as using every part of the body and of course lifting and chopping. My RA clinic were very much you need to rest as over doing it whilst still glaring.

I was meant to be doing 3 days but landed up on 5 days and I was a wreck at the end of the month.

You poor thing. I have been doing just 2days so far, but someone is on holiday and that is why am doing 3days and after my week off my boss suggested I start back on 3 days for a few weeks gradually increasing until I do 5days by the end off October. If I could afford to I would only be doing 2days forever!

Hi Carolsos. I would definitely ring the rheumy department on Monday (if you haven't already). It may well be all the stress you've had over recent months that has caused this as well as going back to work and it's certainly something you could do without. Good luck.

Hi springcross. I rang the rumey earlier and left a message but think it might take about a week to get a reply. Thank you x

If it gets any worse, I would ring again if you've not heard anything by Tues, Wednes. All the best. xx

Hiya Carol. Sorry to hear you're so bad. Like springcross suggested it could be related to stress, you've have a bucketful over the last few months. Also,

returning to work may have it's part to play, going off recent posts. You're using all of your joints, even your feet are taking a bashing. You do also say that your bloods revealed low white cell count, when mine have been low it's usually because I have an infection going on, usually antibiotics prescribed.

So, it could be a flare, your meds could need adjustment or reviewing, or an infection. Any or all of these cover your symptoms so please call your Rheumy helpline, you really need to be seen. It will have to be Monday now, unless your department work on a Saturday? Meantime rest up as much as you're able, hopefully that will ease things a little. A relax in an Epsom Salt bath might be soothing. Other than that just quiet time, let your body just settle if you understand? x

That doesn’t sound at all good. I hope you did call your rheumy team.

Hi Carol. You need some help asap. Definitely ring rheumy nurse and ask for an injection. Unfortunately it is Saturday morning but call first thing on Monday morning. Good luck. x
