Just heard about the death of Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac) aged 73. I think this is so sad and such a waste of a massive talent. RIP

Yes, it is isn't it. He hasn't really had it easy since the early days and I felt so sorry for him with all that he went through. x

It’s such a shame but at least we still have his music. Albatross is one of my all time favourites.

Albatross is such a classic. I've got the Greatest Hits on vinyl which I've had for many many years and I love those tracks - it took me ages to find the CD as there are other Greatest Hits (on CD) with the same cover but different tracks on. Hubby has one of his Splinter Group CDs. Such a massive talent.

My mum who didn't particularly like a lot of music loved Albatross, so it was played at her funeral and people thought it so fitting as it is such a lovely gentle soothing piece of music. While it is sad that Peter has passed away, he leaves a legacy of music that will go on. How good must that be to know that something you have done will live on forever for people old and new to their music will be able to appreciate.

Aww Pippy, that really is lovely. It is a lovely gentle piece of music, I completely agree and I can see why it was chosen. You're right, he really does leave a legacy that will go on and at least now he is at peace. xx

Yes it is. I was a big fan of the original Fleetwood Mac. Albatross is haunting and Shake your Money Maker is a favourite too.

Oh Well, Parts 1 and 2 and Man of The World. It was also his guitar playing I absolutely loved. I saw some comments from people yesterday and one said he was almost as good as Eric Clapton but whilst I rate EC, to me PG was superior. x

Yes I agree. I think Peter Green was quite bluesy too and I like that aspect of his guitar playing.

There's a tribute to Peter Green on Facebook's Colouring the Past if you do Facebook Springcross. It's a shows a video of Fleetwood Mac doing Albatross and there's another one showing them doing Oh Well. Fabulous ❤️

I agree! I’m a devoted fan of ‘The Mac’ from the start to present day. I have a bulging collection of vinyl, including solo albums by Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham &, of course, the talented Mr Green! ‘In the Skies’ (1979) & ‘Little Dreamer’ (1980) are brilliant, underrated examples of his solo work. I was fortunate enough to see him perform during a university tour at my Son’s uni about 10 years ago. He looked his age, but still possessed his guitar brilliant skills and his voice was still unmistakably ‘Green’. His smile was enigmatic and his humour sharp & infectious. A sad loss! God bless him. 😥

Lucky you, I would have loved to see him live. We saw FM at the Bristol Colston Hall in the very early 70s and PG had already left, even so they were amazing. I like the FM now but I haven't always, I used to think they were a poor substitute for a great band but I love their stuff now. x

It's very sad news. I can just see him now standing at the front of the band singing "Oh Well." "I don't care about the shape I'm in, I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin, but don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to." His thick mop of curly black hair bobbing in time to the music.

Yet another of the greats of music from the 60's and 70's.

Yes, he was just brilliant, I would say also, irreplaceable in my opinion. x
