Friends tested

Just before lockdown my friend and her husband had very bad symptoms of C19. She didn’t know much about C19 both her and husband went to the gp who said it was just a virus. Her elderly parents live with them. They were so ill her daughter and husband (both in theirs 20s) and 6 month old child moved in to help care for them all . All 3 also became very very ill. They decided to get tested . (Privately)All but her parents ( in their 90s) had had C19. There are so many more people out their I believe who have had C19 than have been reported due to lack of testing and late information.

Yes I have a friend who also thinks she’s had it but never been tested. She’s kept away from me thank goodness!

Although it was a private test, I presume it still gets added onto the official numbers as it's a PHE reportable disease?

Yes I believe that so many people are out there who were ill but were not been tested. So probably the numbers are much higher! 😔

I agree a favourite saying of GP's is " there's a lot of it about" "if you not better in weeks time come back and see me" " its just a nasty bug, hot lemon and paracetamol will do the trick" lol

Stock GP reply to most illnesses unless you keep going back to them saying you're not getting any better. You almost know what they are going to say before you speak to them.

Fortunately i have not come into contact with anyone who has had it. My daughter stayed away as she had a mild dose of it and if what she had was a mild dose i wouldn't like to see someone who is really ill with it. Apart from her no one has had around me.xxxx

My sister and her partner were very unwell- he, much worse than her. The fever, cough and the loss of smell and taste ( before it was recognised as a main symptom!) and NHS 24 advised them to isolate and said they were certain that they had the virus. They had contact with the twice through their illness but not at any point were they tested. I wonder if people in that situation, are/ were counted in the numbers?

My sister has definitely had it, she was tested as a nurse. Said its nasty, worst flu ever but her partner so far has not had any symptoms. So has he had it with no symptoms or not had it ? I'm not sure as not spoken this week, she was diagnosed 3 weeks ago.

That is terrifying, and so sad and unnecessary. I am so sorry to read this.
