Forgot to take Methotrexate last night

Good morning everyone, so I woke up this morning loving the fact that it's Saturday and I've had a relaxing lie in, to suddenly realise I hadn't taken my Methotrexate last night. Do any of you know if it is ok to take tonight instead? Or should I take it now? Thanks x

You can take it tonight, but then don’t take it again until next Saturday night. Need to leave the full week before you take it again, if you take it weekly. I did this once and had to work my way back to my usual day by pushing it forward one day a week until I got back to it!

Hello Lawra,

Many thanks for coming back to ne, I thought this was the case. Plus I realise I've just taken my folic acid, so will need to leave at least 12 hour gap before taking it. Have a good day. X

The folic acid isn't so important, some countries prescribe it on methotrexate day anyway.

Easily done and nudging it forward week by week until you get to your desired day is the best advice or, if you’re well maintained, skip this week’s dose but that is a riskier option.

Hello Ali_H,

I did take last night and yes I'll nudge it forward a day each week.

Have a good weekend. X

I'm telling you this as I was told by my first Consultant. If you miss the day you take it then take it as soon as you remember. If it's the next day then take it & move on a day each week until you get back to your preferred day, or (& I was settled on it) not take it that week at all & re-start it as normal the following week.

You can do as has been mentioned already of course but as we take 5mg folic acid best not to take it the same day as you’ve remembered that. Those countries who take folic acid the same day usually only take 1mg .

Hello nomoreheels,

Thanks for coming back to me, I did take it Sat night and had taken my Folic Acid in the morning, but I had done that once before (by mistake) and the nurse said so long as there was at least a 12 hour gap it was fine, I think I gave it 18 hours in between. Hope your keeping well and safe, enjoy your Sunday. Xx

Thank you for all your replies. Xx

Hi Stowe

It's OK to take it anytime today. You can tweak the days a bit just remember to miss your folic acid again today.
