Mtx and steroid injection on same day?

Hi, I've got a steroid injection booked for tomorow (Tues) with my GP and I normally have my mtx injection on Tuesday as well. Is it ok to have it on the same day or should I leave it a day or two or missing it all together this week? It's so long since I had an injection that I can't remember the protocol.

Hi Maggsie

I don’t think there is any problem with having both. If there was, would they not have asked you if your Metoject was due that day?

I have had injections of steroid into joints as well as ‘whole body’ in the muscle without ever being asked if DMARD was due then.

I've had steroid injections on same day as methotrexate although I don't inject methotrexate and I had no issues with it.

This happened to me last year and my Rheumatologist told me to take the MTX the next day after the steriod shot. I have to admit it worked well but only lasted 3 months.

That's all I need, hoping to get my knee replaced Jan/Feb (been waiting since March). I'll slip my mtx by one day I think.

I allways drink plenty of water on the day of my injection and have a good dinner with carbs/starch, then take the injection just before bed. This works well for me. (15mg MTX)

Check with your GP but I don't think there's any problem having the two on the same day. Don't honestly remember if my steroid injections have coincided with my MTX day. I also inject (9 years) but never considered it.

Nor me..
