Steroid injection side effects?

I have been on Sulfasalazine for 4 months (6 tablets per day). Also Sertraline for anxiety and depression for the last 2-3 months.

5 days ago I was given an intramuscular steroid injection and for the last 3 nights I have been experiencing very bad dreams / nightmares.

Any thoughts on connections?

I don't take certraline but I have been taking Salazopyrin for the past four years. During this time I have had steroid injections and short term courses of prednisalone without any side effects. Perhaps a pharmacist or doctor would be able to check if you had a reaction to the drugs.

Thanks, am awaiting a call back from the pharmacy.

Prednisalone turns me into an emotional mess. And I often sleep badly after a steroid injection.

Did the pharmacist check that no interactions between the steroid ised for the injection and sertralime?

The injection was given during a rheumatology appointment. They have a list of current Medstead but perhaps I should have asked.

Am awaiting a call back from the local pharmacy.

Medstead? Should have been meds.

I believe I took a reaction to my steroid injection last week (it's my third from January). I had no side effects any other time but last week after it I just felt very peculiar and strange. My sleep was really disturbed, I was anxious and weepy and I was so so thirsty all the time, I was drinking around 4 litres of water during the day and still getting up through the night to drink more, it felt like I had been out boozing (if only). It just felt weird, my hubby was urging me to go to the gp but I was like I don't know what is wrong with me, I couldn't go down and say I felt strange and jittery. Thankfully it has passed after a week, so if you are experiencing a side effect hopefully it passes soon, and maybe the pharmacy might have some answers for you.

Thanks Pinkypie,

The GP phoned to say that nightmares and heightened anxiety are recognised side effects. After three consecutive awful nights, I have now had two nights of more reasonable sleep, relatively speaking.

Had less pain yesterday so am hopeful that the good effects of the steroid injection are kicking in.

It's strange how steroids can affect us! Glad to hear you got sorted, enjoy your next few weeks of been less painful 😊
