Higher dose of Methotrexate

Hi there, Last month I had my methotrexate dose upped from15mg to 20mg which I inject weekly. It does seem to have helped in settling the pain down but I am feeling quite nauseous and also getting stomach cramps. I just wondered if this is likely to settle down as my body gets used to it or is it that I am going to have to choose between the pain or the nausea?! 😌

Are you taking Folic Acid? That calmed down any nausea for me, plus keeping well hydrated....in the winter I started drinking hot fruit teas rather than gallons of cold drinks.

Hope it settles soon.

I have only just this week started taking Folic Acid so hopefully that will help and thanks for the tip of keeping well hydrated - I always mean to but have a habit of forgetting!

I think we all MEAN to drink more.....

Little tip...make up a jug of your favourite juice, quash whatever....And leave it on the kitchen surface where you can see it every time you go into your kitchen. It takes two seconds to drink a glass of whatever and every little helps!

I know ....really nerdy...but if it helps ...why not be a nerd?

I too am on 20mg methotrexate injections. I’ve been on them 6 weeks. At first if I feel nauseous and wiped out . This week I’ve been fine. Hope this continues 🤞

I've just upped my dose to 17.5 and get the travel sick feeling and lethargy the day after. I was advised to drink lots and eat carbs which seems to help. I also take folic acid 6 days , not mtx day. I inject in the evening as then hopefully sleep off the worst side effects overnight. I never plan anything much for the day after injecting just in case as side effects vary from week to week. Its a trade off between side effects and some relief for some of us i guess. Take care :)

Thank you for the tips! And yes the nauseous is horrid but still better than the constant aches and pain 😌
