Hi 👋 Hows everybody tonight? Finally Friday! It’s been a very long week for me.
Just took my second dose of Methotrexate. All 3 pills at once.. as I was instructed by my Rheumatologist. My mouth sores only just went away this afternoon but they might come back tomorrow.
Also had a painful horrible steroid injection in my shoulder earlier. Let’s hope that helps too!
My Consultant is away until September and I just wasn’t going to wait in so much pain in my shoulder and arm.
Wish me luck tomorrow with the side-effects and with a better shoulder and arm..
👌😎👋

I feel your pain. I’ve just switched from tablets to injections because I couldn’t shake all the side effects. I hope the steroid injection soon starts working for you x
I had my first injection last Thursday and I’ve never been as tired as I was for 2 days afterwards. I had my second injection this Thursday and other than needing a bit more sleep, I was fine.
The tablets just gave me really bad diarrhoea but I’m not to bad now. I’m going out on a Saturday for the first time in 3 months!
The injection might take a few hours or up to a week to kick in. I hope it works for you.
Mouth ulcers are one common side effect of MTX. I had one after my Amgevita injection two weeks ago as well. I hope yours heal up between doses each week.
May you have a much less painful weekend than in ages!
Thanks so much! I wish so too. Shoulder and arm still tender but it takes time.
Not fatigue yet and it’s 10 am?! I wonder. But then I took Methotrexate quite late last night before bed. Last Sat I couldn’t move from My bed for hours. Fatigue might kick in later in the day 🤬XX
Hopefully it will settle after a few weeks. I know it seems a long way ahead but most feel the benefits of being on methotrexate after 12wks. For example my feet felt like I was walking on stones and I was limited in distance to what i could achieve before it was unbearable. All that has gone and I cope with 3 to 4 miles albeit at a slow pace. My feet had been swollen but I had not noticed and after the 12wk period on methotrexate I dropped half a shoe size so once you start seeing the benefits it helps!
I went up and down with all sorts of side affects when first started on mine. But my nurse said I had to give them 3 months and she was right lol now take them with hardly any affects.
I changed from tabs to injection because tabs were making me feel sick. Only feel a bit fatigued, no mouth ulcers, for the next day no sick feeling now. As said can take up to 3mths to kick. Hope your pain not too unbearable take care xx
I'm also on injections and I definitely have less nausea and tiredness the day after. Especially when you go up a dose it seems a bit better and effective than the tablets. So you might be able to be on a lower dose with injections than tablets. Most of my side effects did get better over time though. It probably took about 6-8 weeks I think
I take my MTX on Friday too, I hope it works for you. I've had steroid injections in my shoulders, hip, knees and palm of my hand. I didn't feel too much pain, except for the one in my hand.
My hands are really bad too lately :/ struggling to type and do other things.
My shoulder and arm feel better In the last couple of hours!!! I should have done it ages ago :/
NO side-effects from taking Methotrexate last night at all... yet ?! 😱 Not even fatigue. How weird. I feel like I haven’t taken anything. Maybe it will come tomorrow. Last week I felt weird and tired until Wed at least xx
