Benepali and pneumonia

Hello everyone , I'm currently in hospital having being diagnosed with pneumonia and asthma.

I don't feel too poorly, though I'm sure it will hit me later .

My question is I suppose , do I need to tell my rheumy people ( different health authority from the one I'm in at the moment ) that I have pneumonia ?

I know I can't use Benepali whilst on antibiotics I just need to know for how long.

I'm more concerned about my under control RA being let loose again . Time will tell I suppose .

Thanks for reading ,

Becky

If your pneumonia is thought to be due to your RA meds you might be seen by the Rheumatologist in that hospital. If down to asthma, probably not. Best to contact your Rheum team. (Some hospitals don't prescribe biologics at all seemingly). Hope you soon recover .

I’d give your rheumy nurse a call just so that you are in Hospital with pneumonia is entered in your notes......and she will be able to tell you how to manage your RA drugs.

Wish you better soon.

I had pneumonia December to January this year and was hospitalised for 6 weeks due to pharyngeal pouch causing inhalation into my lungs. I was off Benepali for all of this time without any adverse effects

I hope this helps

Poor you. What a dreadful time.

I think what everyone said, is correct and you should contact your rhuemy team.

I can empathise. Following recent surgery in my wrist, I caught what I thought, was my daughters cold. I struggled to breath with it so called NHS 24 which saw me taken to hospital by ambulance.

Then spent the next week in hospital on oxygen 24/7. Had two courses of IV antibiotics, steroids and nebulisers four times daily. Turns out I have emphysema . Absolutely gutted.

Whatever you do, follow medical advice and get better soon x

I'm so sorry you have emphysema, how awful.

They are looking at other things as well as I keep having chest problems .

I cat get a deep enough breath at the best of times and now this .

But thank you for your best wishes .
