Morning all I hope your all as well as you can be. You know I have had pneumonia, well the after effects are harder than the illness itself. I am so tired and exhausted and so fatigued. I went back to the drs. yesterday as I felt so ill. She has ordered me to get some blood tests to check nothing else is going on. It is going to be a long battle to get back to where I was before the pneumonia. I know I have RA/Fibro and chronic fatigue and I am sure that is not helping. I wonder if I am flaring adding to me feeling so weak. I am becoming very down about this as the dr. said it could be Christmas before I will feel brighter than I am now. I have never before been this that I have been this ill and I have had pneumonia more than once. So I am resting and doing little things then resting again and I am going to bed in the afternoons as well.
Hugs to you all.xxxx

It does take a while to get over pneumonia Sylvi, says me preaching to the choir. I think patience is the key though I know it's something any of us would find hard to deal with on top of our conditions but you've been dogged by ill health such a long time now so it must be even more difficult let alone frustrating.
The BLF have a table of recovery from pneumonia, below, but of course it's dependent on your general health, age & severity so is only a guide. It also states it's impossible to say exactly how quickly you’ll recover, but here’s an idea of what an otherwise healthy person could expect. You'll see it's a long hard road & unfortunately you've more than one condition to take into account
Once you start taking antibiotics, your symptoms should begin to improve.
1 week your fever should be gone
4 weeks your chest will feel better and you'll produce less mucus
6 weeks you'll cough less and find it easier to breathe
3 months most of your symptoms should be gone, though you may still feel tired
6 months you should feel back to normal
So, as usual, patience is the key. I know you've had to have a lot of that patience stuff this year, it must be thin on the ground by now but please try. Take care & hugs from me. (x)
Oh darling thank you for that, you know me so well with patience which i don't have a lot of. I am a get up and go sort of person, but my get up and go has gone into deep storage. I have to make jokes about it as i would soon become depressed.xxxx
Love that! Let it stay in deep storage for a while longer yet. Rest, rest & more rest, oh & a bit more for good measure is what Nurse NMH prescribes (self appointed know it all). x
My get up and go got up and went too lol, I've tried setting traps but it keeps avoiding them, It's ok though it'll slip up and then i'll catch it when it's not looking
Sylvi please take care. Just try and let others do what needs doing. Sometimes you can worry too much and feel you need to help. I am sure those around you are happy to do everything provided you get better. That is the main thing. X
You are so right food-lover, I have so used to being doing everything before and I have had since RA had to let a lot go, but I could still do a little bit until this pneumonia and now I can't do anything which is so hard for me. I am doing my best to rest. I am going to bed every afternoon and yesterday I even had a hours sleep and I hate to say it I feel brighter for going back to bed. I got up to have my tea then I went back up to my bed.xxxxx
Good for you. You will heal faster and also be in a happier frame of mind to be with your family.. that alone will be perfect for all. When you are fully recovered try doing a few of the small jobs that you enjoy and take back your work load very slowly. Don’t feel guilty it is everyone responsibility to look after the home and I am sure they don’t mind doing their share for the time being. Keep well xx
My darling hubby is so so good looking after me and the house so i can't complain about him as he has two allotments as well so we always have fresh vegetables. It is his place of peace where he doesn't have to think or worry he just does if you know what i mean. My daughter comes on a Saturday and cleans my bathroom for me. It is going to be a hard day today as it is our poppy launch and we have a parade and little service and take the photos for our branch of the British legion. We won't be home until after lunch by then i will go to bed. Hubby and our daughter is at a concert with the standard, but i am not going as i am too exhausted,i haven't been to this concert as it ends too late in the evening. So i will be in bed watching strictly come dancing.xxxxxx
I am glad to hear you didn't cough your lungs up, but please do rest!
What kind of expectorant are you on? Guafenisen (hope I spelled it right!) found in mucinex and some other cold meds is said to help with fibromyalgia. It removes something from the body that reduces the symptoms! Also take some sublingual vitamin B12 for a little perk me up!
With Christmas right around the corner, you could use the slow time to write a family newsletter and make out your cards!
Gentle hugs as it is so good to know you are starting to recover!×××
Hi Sylvi, I’m so sorry you are feeling so bad! I had pneumonia a few years ago and my recovery was much as nomoreheals described - I am sure you are getting fed up with being patient but be kind to yourself - you will get there xxxx
Sorry to hear to are still not over the horrible pneumonia, I'm still getting over it as well, went back to docs as well yesterday, she told me to half my hydroxy as it is still making me sick, Lost so much weight as well (good excuse to get new clothes if I had the energy to do it lol) prob my pain will come back tho, catch 22 situation really. It's really taking it out me. Can't catch a breathe either and still coughing but not as bad. I'm trying to take it easy, can't do anything else. Take care, maybe next week will be better xx
Hi Sylvi. It's baby steps on that road to recovery for you, isn't it? I'm sure things will be better for you soon as long as your get up and go stays in deep storage a while longer. Wishing you all the very best
Sounds like you’re doing the right thing Sylvi - a small amount of activity and a lot of rest. When I’m in a flare but not fatigued enough to sleep I listen to audio books.
Poor you, I understand the getting you down part because that's how I feel sometimes, Cheer up Xmas is coming lol and i'm sending you all my best wishes, Get well soon or no carolling for you in the snow lmao xxx
