Hi guys 🤗 How are you all today? My work is bringing in a DSE Physio to see me next week .. what do you think are the adjustments I should present her with? Did any of you had the opportunity to see one at work and what were your requirements? Aside from desk adjustments, did anyone ask or was offered the opportunity to work from home more than 1 day a week or getting in later (avoiding the rush hour) or leaving early?.
Thanks and have a great weekend 🙏❤️

I think you should ask for adjustments that would help you at work, our requirements would be different to yours. Only you can say that really. Everything you ask for they can say either yes or no so I would go with the most you would need and see what they say. They might agree to everything you never know. Good luck.
Hi my friend has quite bad RA her work have been great 1 day out of 5 off and when her immune is low she can work from home she has only just gone back to work after a 3 months off as she had to be careful with people who had coughs and colds but anytime she feels unwell she can work from home also she has her own desk phone computer/keyboard that no one else can use to prevent any infections as its a office full of people swapping around desks so all of this was planned with her boss and DSE Pyhsio hope this helps xx
Oh I should have thought of letting them know this... but too late now. I saw the Physio in the morning. I could email her perhaps and add these things too.
I have 1 other person using my desk once a week, I might tell her if she can wipe the keyboard and mouse before I use it again. But I already wipe these when she's gone.. x
I had a taxi to work and home. Otherwise just desk adjustments, a wrist support was suggested although I didn't want that, a suitable chair and a footstool, plus easy to hold pens. Sometimes they suggest things you've not thought of. Any ideas of your own you can bring into the discussion. Hope you get all you need.
I'm assuming you already have a copy holder, which holds papers upright so your chin isn't constantly looking/facing down, and your monitor at the correct height. My chair had adjustable arms. I hope you have a productive discussion. x
Regular breaks from sitting in one position? A supportive adjustable chair?
Have a look at adjustments that can be made to your working environment on the NRAS website? I found talking with Occupational Therapists has been so helpful in helping to manage disabilities, fatigue and pain.
Yeah, sounds good. Although my stupid CEO told me off about taking too many breaks, as an excuse for not giving me my promotion!! But now that I told them about my health issues hopefully I won't hear these complaints again.
I have looked at the site thank you Oldtimer. I will suggest things to her tomorrow xx
the occ therapist suggested I had an ergonomic mouse, and 'dragon speak' software so I didn't need to use keyboard but could just say what I wanted to be typed. But what was really useful was that she told me to take it easy and have a phased return to work (my first experience of RA was a flare up; I was off work for 3 1/2 months) .
I have the mouse, but the software is interesting. Although I work in a very open plan very close to people and other departments and i wouldn't want to disturb by dictating. I think that if I know that I have to type a lot of emails I could go and sit elsewhere in a meeting room perhaps. xx
