HR at work

Bless got a lovely email from work HR today who said thanks for being honest about what you have and sending the NRAS for employers booklet as she said knows nothing about RA. Then went on to say my boss and her will talk to me and see what they can do now , future or whenever I hit a patch or always of pain and how they can support me.

I have only been there 49 weeks and was slighly concerned but got a good company on my side!

Good to hear and thank goodness for NRAS publications !

Love a bit of empathy sorely lacking in general.

I will tell them this as I get the feeling from this blog site that this is sadly not the case.x

Hi Deeb,

That's a breath of fresh air!!

My employer is very good, and what a difference it makes you feel knowing that you are getting the correct support from them!!

Sadly a lot of employers aren't as supportive and think they can get away not following the law, but they must, as they have a duty of care to all employee's, but employee's with RA, are protected under the aquality act 2010, so they must conform!!

That's brilliant news though for you, well done for speaking with them, cos it's not easy trying to explain about RA and what you go through with this hidden desease that we are living with on a daily basis, I know I have on many occasions been in floods of tears with my HR lead, and she always gives me a hug 🤗

All the best

X

How wonderful! I guess we sometimes flinch at the potential response, so what a lovely feeling to receive that sort of feedback. Like Helix said, nominate them for an award! Maybe NRAS have some sort of Employer Recognition Scheme? All the best, cheers Deb :)

I’m so glad you’ve managed to get the support from your employer that you should. I found when I was at work for the NHS they were supportive for a while as long as I did all the leg work getting funding for specialist equipment that I desperately needed. I loved my job and worked very hard in excruciating pain but unfortunately they had to make me retire on ill health grounds. They were right looking back but if you can get support and remain employed with this terrible condition I would like to wish you all the luck in the world that you manage to keep the sympathetic ear.
