Help! PIP Award Review

Hi everyone. I am starting to fill in my review form for PIP. Does any one have any advice on any support they may have had in filling in the form? Previously a lady helped me from what used to be the charity DISC. She is no longer available. I am a bit anxcious about the whole thing. I have been on a new medication since September which has been helping a lot. I have had such a rocky road to this point and unable to work.....my blood test readings have meant I have had to miss some injections so even though it is helping me I don't feel secure in my physical abilities e.g if I miss an injection my symptoms become more apparent. Even on the meds I still find I have to be careful to not over do it, my energy goes. My husband works and we have a young child. We were struggling on just one income, the PIP has helped this. How do people fill in these forms when in the position I am now in....i.e Walking: I can now walk much further, but this changes if I miss the meds, or over do things. I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place, as far as wanting to work, still being uncertain if I will be able to stay on this medication, knowing that the PIP has been the difference between us keeping our heads above water or not. Thank you for listening.

Hi there

I really thing you need professional guidance on this.

What about Citizens Advice?

Have you Googled to see if there is any organisation in your area that can help?

Sorry I can't be more help. I strongly advise though that you should notify your local MP if you think you are being treated unfairly.

Good luck to you. Xx

I'm not sure which area you live in but make sure if you need help from citizens advice, welfare rights or any other agency that are in your area that you make contact with them as soon as possible as they tend to sadly in my experience have a long waiting time. As Ajay575 says treat it as a new claim. Previously I had the help of a very good welfare rights officer who sadly passed away so this time I had no one available to help me and things got to the point where I had to contact my MP. Thankfully I also had the support of my GP who was prepared to speak to the DWP and on this occasion I had my award reinstated.

No one should be made to feel anxious, distressed or wondering how they are going to manage having an illness we have no control over let alone cure. Take Care and wishing you all the best Mouseling.

When filling in your form be sure to say how it affects you on your worse days not your good ones

Hi I'm going through the same. I made an appointment with my citizens advice centre and they helped me a lot. Well I've got my assessment on the 20th of this month so I will let you know how I go on. I've also been told that my job is no longer available due to staff restructuring. So I'm feeling a tad worried. Good luck.

Read up about PIP and the qualifying criteria that you will need to meet, on the Benefits & Work website. Include lots of medical evidence, letters from consultants, physio, etc. Keep copies of everything. Be very methodical, sounds tedious, but you cannot rely on the DWP to be fair.

CAB for sure, that goes without saying.

A daily diary, including any and all difficulties you encounter in your day to day life, no matter how insignificant they seem at the time.

Always, always, always use your worst days as an example of what you constantly, not occasionally, have to deal with.

Any and all symptoms, side effects of meds and how they combine to create obstacles in your life.

Copies of everything...to keep the record straight, but also to refresh your memory, should a f2f be required.

Post to the Gestapo by registered delivery.

Finally, good luck!

I agree - fill it in as how you can cope on your worst days.

Benefits and Work website is really helpful with loads of question-by-question guides to filling in the form. I would really recommend them. They charge a subscription though.

Sorry you're having to deal with this - it's so stressful.

Best of luck and try not to let it get to you!

Hi, like you I had assistance, via the local town council. There is also the library, and some people advertise to help in newspapers.

I queried my reply of rejection, had to go for a test, as soon as we got in the room the guy said " I didn't think you would be in a wheelchair ♿ "my husband said to him "how else is she going to get here she is unable to walk" the guy didn't answer , after going through all that I passed! only found out a few days later . So persevere , and go for the tribunal if you have to, nothing to lose.

Good luck 🌻 and God Bless
