Hi, I have been awarded PIP enhanced for both daily living and mobility, with no telephone assessment!
My previous award was standard daily living with no mobility.
I am over-joyed and still in shock!🙏🏾

Oh congratulations.. such a weight off your shoulders.
Hi, I was diagnosed last year, I am unsure how PIP works and who qualifies, can you help pls?
Hi,
Thank you for your message.
Citizen Advice has some good guides and they are free. They explain more about PIP and the eligibility criteria.
I managed to add link for CAB
citizensadvice.org.uk/benef... - hope it works!🙏🏾
I also reviewed Benefits & Works website and paid the subscription, to access their guides. Hope this helps😘
Some good advice from opalfree, NRAS also have information so may be worth looking at that too. Take care.
Pip is a non means tested benefit. Anyone with a long term illness can apply. It’s quite long winded . If you look on the DWP site it explains who is entitled. RA is a systemic disease and not curable any many claim pip. I won’t sugar coat it but you do need to do a lot of work gathering evidence and filling in forms. It’s not a fortune but it will help with prescriptions etc . It’s worth it .
Hi Djohnston71, thank you for your question, NRAS has some helpful information here nras.org.uk/resource/help-f... and our helpline is open 9.30am - 4.30pm every week day nras.org.uk/helpline/
Thank you😘
I know, but my previous review in 2017, was also paper based assessment.
For my review I explained everything in depth, how I was affected and backed this up with documental evidence🙏🏾
Thank you🤗
Yes sorry should’ve explained better - my assessment was paper based (my excitement got in the way!😇)
Yes, big relief.
Hope so - although I’m in pain now, which brings you back down to earth with a bump!😇😃
Does anyone have any idea how long it takes before you hear anything after submitting your first claim xx
There are currently got backlogs, so they are taking some time to process claims.
Give PIP a call - try first thing when they open at 9am, but be prepared I had to wait 46 minutes, to get through to a person.
They will be able to advise you about your claim.
Hopefully it won’t be too long🤗😘
It’s fantastic to get good news in these uncertain times I was as surprised when mine came back as ongoing with standard for daily living and enhanced mobility few weeks Back this After having to fight at tribunal last time well done hope stress continues to stay away xx
Well done you too on your award🤗Yes, fingers crossed been a very stressful year in total!
Hope you have a blessed day😘
Morning Sophie, do you mind telling me how long your award is for? I’m currently ‘renewing’ and won at tribunal last time too. Thanks x
Congratulations, how long is your award for?
Congratulations I bet it’s a weight off your mind we suffer enough daily to have to go through that . I’m about to send mine off it’s been done on line so it’s quicker can I ask did you send a diary?? I’ve wrote out pages worth photographed it
Thank you and yes I’m relieved it’s over for next few years😊
Ooh I didn’t have that option of online - Is it your first claim?
That’s excellent idea sending in a diary - I didn’t do that, but it’s a way of showing how you are affected on a daily basis, over a period of time. Also if you’ve got any photos of swollen joints then also send those in too!😇
Does the online format save you a copy for your records also?
Keep fingers crossed for you too. Steph😘
Really pleased for you opalfreee, I’m sure the money will really help you.
That’s great news I’m waiting to hear as I did a MR so I sent them photos and letters so waiting game now ... really pleased for you x
Thank you Tubbytomo🤗
Great idea sending photos, any care plans from OT , letters from those who see your daily struggles, are all useful documental evidence.
Also give real life examples of what happens when you have tried to do an activity...I will keep my fingers crossed that the MR gives you rightful award. Stay strong😘
WellI managed to get enhanced living but they still said only daily mobility as I could stand up from
Sofa and walk to chair unaided so only 10 points and not 12 I needed to get full disability so a tad disappointing but I feel I should be grateful but I’m not lol so I guess this is my lot now 😡😓
Hi Tubbytomo, I can understand your feeling upset after your MR result, on mobility side🤗
If you still feel aggrieved, you can seek further advice from welfare rights or cItizen advice, if you still want to take it to appeal & challenge the mobility decision.
If you decide not to appeal and wait to fight it on your next review, I would ask your Rhuemy or GP to refer you for a full mobility assessment. This way you can obtain the report that shows your struggles with this activity, and can be included as medical evidence, for next time around.
Don’t let DWP’s stupidity, get you down! Keep your chin up! Steph😘
Thank you and yes I’m due to see my RA consultant and foot surgeon soon so I can ask them to help but I’mNot due a review for two yrs 😓
That’s great re: your upcoming appointments with both RA & Foot consultants and hopefully they can help.
I found this website on scope advicelocal.uk/ hope link works!🤞🏾to help find welfare rights in your local area.
They can give you more advice, and also help if you choose to go onto appeal.
Maybe over the weekend, you can review what support is available in your local area, and then give them a call on Monday for further advice.
Let me know how you get on. Have a good evening. Steph😘
Thank you Steph I will look into this .. having a brain fog few days feel like I’m drowning in treacle ...., hoping by Monday will feel revised ... had my covid jab 8 wks ago and had the norm symptoms 2 days after jab have felt like I’ve had cold symptoms since ..... been weird tbh ???
Oh bless you - I know that feeling. Try to rest as much as possible over weekend and hopefully the fog will start to lift. This disease just keeps on giving🤗 I was quite lucky after my jab to only have a sore arm & little tired, but I know others who also had side effects also, after theirs. If symptoms persist, then do mention them to your GP. Have a restful weekend and take care of self. Steph😊
Thank you Steph . On with the next fight I guess 💪💪xx
That’s the spirit...How are you feeling now? Hopefully the brain fog has settled down xx
My hand very painful as is my foot and leg and neck n back very bad so it’s taking hold of me and it’s so aggressive I think I need to change my meds as I inject Benaparli and I don’t think it’s working anymore as more swelling and damage I feel most of my body is bone in bone now ..... hate this disease .!!
Oh no, I’m sorry to hear that things are not great with your RA at present - this disease just doesn’t let up sometimes!🤗
If the pain get too much, do contact Rhuemy helpline to get some help & your GP to see if they can support you further. Hopefully you have help at home, so that you can rest as much as possible. Take care of yourself🤗😘😘
fantabulous so pleased for you
Could it be that you have a lot of changes to your condition and that could be why you have the top rate now?
Hi, thank you for your response. When I completed my first claim in 2015, all conditions were present, the only difference to now is: I have had some of the issues formally diagnosed, and I’m now better at explaining how these conditions affect me.
For example, in the moving around criteria, I typed up one & half a4 pages explaining in depth how my inflammatory arthritis & other conditions which affects my knees, lower lumbar region & feet, how they each individually impacted my ability in moving around. From the pain, on standing to my ability in walking.
So I think this made a difference, alongside sections from my medical notes / consultant reports, which I sent as documental evidence. Have a lovely evening. Steph😘
Yes, you put a lot of effort into writing it down, that's really good you had a great result. Well done
Only just seen this. So pleased for you, especially not needing a tel assessment. Like you I submitted all relevant medical notes & wrote (or my h did) extensively about how things were/had changed but my review was before Covid so had a face to to face. I was awarded same on daily living but increased on mobility from nothing to enhanced so have both now. I've been notified since it has been awarded indefinitely. It must be a huge relief for you.
Oh that’s amazing congrats! I have enhanced for both and I’m not due for my renewal till Feb 2023 but honestly I worry every day I’m going to lose it and it really has made an impact on my life (especially having the car). X
Oh well done! A big weight off your shoulders and none of that telephone assessment. How long did they award if for this time, hope it is as long as you need it for.
🤗Thank you...Yes, I’m relieved...Been awarded for 5 years, longer than my previous of 3 years. I’m thankful🙏🏾 Have a lovely evening. Steph😘
brilliant news! I'm really happy and relieved for you. I'm due my review sometime this year so hope I have the same result! Now, sit back, relax and breath....what a relief! xxx
How long before you here back when you send back the forms
My wait was just over 5 weeks after I sent back my forms, but I had a paper based assessment. Unsure of waiting times for Telephone assessments, which are conducted by either Capita, etc...
Congrtas..... I am doing my ‘renewal’ application ATM... was awarded five years enhanced both at Tribunal last time... but it took 2.5 years, and was so stressful I haven’t even phoned for the DWP for renewal forms yet.
All the info has been so conflicting... no idea if mine will end in April or will be automatically be extended while they review, as this will be counted as a new claim...
🤗Thank you...I know this process isn’t the easiest to navigate, and the battle some how to go through is an absolute disgrace!
I suppose due to the pandemic some of the upheaval, can’t be helped, but they really don’t make it easy!
Stay positive and fingers crossed. Steph😘
Congratulations, I also received PIP about 6 months ago, no telephone appointment either, it was surprisingly simple. Just filled in the form 👍
