Hi just been told that my hip limp is trendelenburg gait and I’m awaiting a physio appointment. Wondering if anyone here has developed this after a total hip replacement and how was your recovery from it. Thanks all 🤗 x

It seems quite common after a hip replacement to have weakness in the abductor muscles. This means that you compensate by swinging the body as you walk. Physiotherapy and doing the exercises carefully and frequently usually seems to do the trick.

Thanks old timer, just feeling a little disappointed as I wanted rid of this crutch sooner rather than later as it’s affecting my RA in my neck, shoulders, wrist, and hands. Vicious circle this RA. 🤗 X

Weakness in the gluteus medius muscle is veeery common. Not just after THR. People who sit a lot tend to struggle with it. Luckily you can get rid of it quite well with a tennis ball and some strengthening exercises. So don't worry too much :)
