So at the end of feb ill be having a cortisone injection into my hip. Ive had it done to finger joints, and my wrists but never my hip. Iam worried, ive done research and alot of people have commented its very painful afterwards. Has anyone experienced having cortisone injections directly into the hip ?

Hi no but I'll find out on Thursday because I'm getting one done on my left hip and also my left hand as I'm having problems with my middle finger and swelling on top off my hand

Wonder what it is about Thursday and injections - I'm having one in my left ankle then! Good luck with yours.

Hi I have had several injections into my hip and they have been okay. It can be a bit painful but it is very quick and the benefits certainly outweigh the injections. Good luck.

I just felt a bit brused, nothing serious.

Some years ago I suffered from bursitis in both hips. I have lost count of the number of injections I had! Some under imaging, some not. Some were painful, some I hardly noticed. Sometimes it depends on the skill of the giver. Did they work? Sometimes they did and for long periods and sometimes they did 't

But it's always worth a try

Good luck

Hi Keryn,

I have had a few injections into my hip and they're fine. Yes it's uncomfortable for a bit while it's going in, but afterwards I've never had any problems just pretty quick relief from tendon and ligament pain. before Christmas I could hardly walk without serious pain, now I am pretty normal. Great as far as I'm concerned. I hope you have the same result.

Hi Keyrn, I just had a question. I have 3 fingers on my right hand that won't stand up anymore. There bent over as though I'm making a fist. I can lift them up but they don't stay up. Do those shots help with that? Or what do the shots do? I've never got them. Thank you. Richgirl 🌻

Hi the injections help with mobility alittle but mostly with pain and inflammation

Oh ok. Thank u. I guess then I might have to get surgery to straighten my fingers. I'm guessing that might be very painful to do as there are a lot of nerves in the fingers. Wonderful to hear that u can walk better with less pain. Blessing to u. Richgirl😊

I'm afraid it sounds like your tendons have slipped which is why you can't raise your fingers from that bent position. I've had joint replacements on all my fingers and the outcome for the first 4 was excellent, a normal functional hand. 25 years later the second lot haven't been as good because my muscles/ligaments are older and not in such good condition. It's not the surgery that's painful, it's getting the fingers moving afterwards that is sore. But you have RA, you tolerate loads of pain I'd guess! You'll cope. Good luck Richgirl.
