Hi first time posting so please bear with me, i have just been moved off humira onto amgevita first I new about this was when I received a letter through the post I have not had any contact from hospital about change over I haven't even had an appointment with them for nearly 12 months when I used to be seen every six months considering you are supposed to be closely monitored when taking these drugs by the way I am 61and was diagnosed with AS 13yrs ago I also take methotrexate sulfasalazine and diclofenac has anyone else been changed to this and felt any different.

I’m being switched as well when my present supply of Humira finishes so any info would be welcome.

Hope your switch goes well Hollie.

Hi Hollie

There were some posts last week by some who were switching back as Amgevita (Humira biosimilar therefore cheaper) was not as good.

I suppose we are obliged to try it since it is available but don’t hesitate to ask for change if it is not so effective.

I am about to begin Humira (surprised to get it and not the biosimilar) in a couple of weeks. Good luck with amgevita!

I have been switched over now for a few months. Only thing I notice is the quantity of fluid is a little more and the syringe (my choice as I prefer this to the pen) has a different style of plunger. I have not noticed any issues re the medication itself. Hope this helps to reassure you.

It was discussed with me several months before the actual switch over so was not a surprise to me.

There not suppose to switch you without discussing it with you first. Think a lot of hospitals are just sending out letters hoping people will just switch and not challenge it. I'm on enbrel and I asked if I was going to be switched to a biosimilar, told I would be at a later date, I did my research into the new drugs and I typed up all my concerns and views about switching and gave it to my specialist nurse to pass on to my consultant. I have been told since that I can stay on enbrel. A friend of mine on humira objected to switching and she too is now staying on humira.

I've been on enbrel since 2012, I'm now in remission. I see my consultant once a year and my specialist nurse once a year, I'm seen every six months, I'm sure you have to be seen every six months when on anti tnfs. Perhaps if you phone your helpline asking about the switch and say you need an appointment with someone ASAP to discuss it.

Hope all goes well. x

Hi Holly, I was on Humira for about 8-9 years and then was changed to new biosimilars which did nothing other than bring my AS back with a vengeance after having no issues the time I was on Humira.... back on Humira now and AS is starting to get back to where I don’t notice it. If it doesn’t work call your specialist!
