Hiya, does anyone take HRT alternatives and RA medication? I take hydroxychloroquine daily (since July 2014) and MTX metoject (since Dec 2018) once a week.
I took HRT ( for hideous hot flushes) for 11 years with no problems at all and after gradually reducing the dose right down to 3 tablets a week I came off them in January this year. However my hot flushes have come back with a vengeance! π²π° It's unbearable and I'm just wondering before I see my GP to go back on HRT has anyone found any successful alternatives who also take similar meds? Over the years I've tried the usual stuff like red clover, black cohosh, evening primrose, soya etc. when I tried coming off HRT over the years but none worked!

I hesitated before replying because I was nearly finished with menopause when I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. I started methotrexate during the menopause but I was never on hrt. I refused hrt because I was told that it only delayed the symptoms. I coped with the hot flushes by using an air conditioning unit. The unit has a remote control for use during the night. I found this really effective. I hope this helps as hot flushes are terrible.
Hiya, thanks for your reply. It's so annoying and frustrating as it's not just in the house but when I'm out and about. Last night I was out at a local gig and I was absolutely soaking stood watching the band! I could have done with a fan and a towel lol! Not pleasant at all πππ!
I too had HRT for early menopause (early 40s) serious hot flushes, I then was diagnosed with RA aged 61. I have reduced the HRT tablets (Kliovance) to 3 a week and it helps greatly with the hot flushes I still get, possibly aggravated by Methotrexate. Under 3 tabs, the flushes and sweating come back with a vengeance. My consultant at the Bath Mineral Hospital has no problem with this.
Hiya Dayli, I also took Kliovance for 11 years and also reduced down to 3 a week (Mon, Wed, Fri) for the last 3 years. I'm seriously considering going back on them as I can't tolerate the hot flushes anymore π they're getting worse!
