There is an abundance news and "facts" and"science" about the how oils affect our health. Found this quite good. What do you think.

Important news about polyunsaturated oils as well as fish oils.
Hi Simba. I'm afraid this has left me feeling confused. I don't pretend to understand it all but as I take Omega 3 specifically to help with RA (though I'm not sure whether it does!) I'd be concerned to think I was making things worse!! I reacted to my diagnosis by taking a whole load of vitamins, powders, fats etc so I honestly don't know where I'm up to. I'd be interested to hear your take on the article.
Polyunsaturatedfats:
• Omega-6polyunsaturatedfatty acids can increase inflammation in the body, so you should aim to eat fewer softer fats and oils from corn or sunflower sources, which are high in omega-6.
• Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids are useful in the diet and are found in rapeseed oil, walnuts, free-range eggs (depending on the chicken feed), oily fish and fish oil supplements.
It’s Omega 6 that may cause an issue, not 3 which is generally the fish oil supplement 😀
Hi Simba
It is saying what we have known (plus a bit of confusing science) for many years re vegetable oils.
They are very bad but prolong the product shelf life so are found in everything eg rapeseed (canola) oil.
I have avoided all vegetable oils as much as possible, always read ingredients labelling too.
As for fish oils, that was interesting. My joints are worse since buying fish oil capsules containing omega 3 from non shellfish sources.
But I had a flare before that and then did far too much when I felt better, so conclusions not really possible.
I would rather go back to just eating fish sourced from non farmed markets eg wild or Atlantic salmon.
As for fats , I use mainly butter, lard, extra virgin olive and hemp, and coconut oil is useful both for eating and in many other ways.
How about you?
I’m shocked that you posted this. There are no references to back up the assertions made in this article. If you wish, I can supply academic references to the positive use of Fish Oil for RA, as the research was done at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in South Australia.
Also, that website has zero references to the qualifications of those who are doing the writing/dispensing of knowledge.
Disappointed
Read Cwendyn's response. Omega 3, found in fish oil is beneficial.
Personally I prefer to take information from reliable sources such as Versus Arthritis (formally Arthritis Research Uk). Look at P15 of this booklet. versusarthritis.org/media/1...
I can't use oils I get ill, like I use to think it was potatoes I couldn't have but it was more the oils it was cooked in
I use goat butter if I have to cook anything with a bit of oil, but on the whole I don't use any oils at all
I take a fish oil supplement every day and use rapeseed oil, cold pressed made locally. No flare ups here. I look at a fb page, RA naturally and people are constantly saying they’re in agony but doing everything they’re supposed to, AIP, organic, blah blah blah. Not working for them and they wonder why...
This is from Versus Arthritis

Hahaha omg Simba...I was shocked and had never heard of Ray Peat so spent the morning listening to his hour long radio talk. (And fell asleep at the end, I’m afraid hahaha)
I was surprised at this new perspective. I found this as a response to Ray Peat’s claims by a lipid chem person (in 2005):
Personally I don't take fish oil supplements. We can get all we need from eating oily fish 2/3 times a week. I find this to be a far more pleasant way to consume fish oil. As for consuming too much vegetable oil, simply avoid processed foods.
Same here except for loads of cream as at this time of year you just have to have cream with strawberries. All things in moderation and as not allowed brown food, cola, bananas grapes and baked beans (kidney diet) and too much protein as in meat I feel life has to be balanced and cheese is just part of an otherwise varied diet. So much is written without proper controlled studies it does worry me that people have no proof its all anocdotal but it sells books,
