What do you think about CBD oil? Scam or Real? Has anyone tried it yet? I'm thinking about trying it.

I did read this article about CBD oil:

medicalnewstoday.com/articl...

It looked to me as if the benefits were uncertain in humans and there were some risks.

I think you have to read the more scientific articles for yourself and take a balanced decision.

Don't read the advertising stuff from those who sell it!

Thank you for the link. Yes, I will definitely do more scientific research before trying.

Thank you for the status on your experience with CBD oil. I will take it into consideration. I do hope you find something to calm your pain. I know how that feels. I live in the Coastal Bend area (wrong place to live with RA) BUT then, what place is the right place to live, right?

I take it and helps with sleep. I can't wait until the full spectrum oil with THC is available, I've read amazing things about it and it's natural!! Just have a Google, lots of papers out there on it from countries where it's legal and if was available here I'd take it straight away.

wishbone profile image

I'd give it a go if it becomes available. I won't be holding my breath though.

Yes, I have heard about THC. Not legal here in Texas though. I'm just afraid of the side effects....hallucinations, increased appetite.

woodstar1 profile image
woodstar1 in reply towanttobepainfree

Not legal here either, unfortunately, but where it is you can have different strains that give you the benefits without getting high. Id take it at night to help with sleep. Hopefully one day our country will see sense and give us some choice.

Tried it! Didn’t make any difference to my pains at all. Tramadol is the only painkiller that works for me. 🤗X

TRAMADOL RULES OK! ;-)

It might have issues, as many drugs do, but it's helped me no end over the last few years and still does.

in reply towishbone

Me too! three daily helps me get through each day, and have to say no side effects. 🤗X

I was taking 150mg of slow release along with 2 paracetamol twice a day, but since starting baricitinib have managed to cut it down to a total of 240mg a day.

in reply towishbone

I usually take mine with paracetamol morning and night, seem to help me with sleep 😴 problems too. We just gotta do what we gotta do for some kind of “quality of life” keep popping them tablets 💊💊💊🤗 X

I agree with you, sad, but true! I hate to say this.....but we are going to die one way or another (circle of life).

wanttobepainfree in reply to

I meant that comment in a good way (no other way at all). But, yes, I do agree with you 100%. We need to find OUR way of coping and trying to live with this illness/disease pain free. It is a VERY BIG challenge.

I tried it for a week. It did absolutely nothing for me, but I know others who swear by its pain relief benefits.

It all depends on the company making it and how. All the health food and vitamin stores are jumping on the bandwagon but I don’t get the results I’m looking for in a lot of them. I live in California where I can get CBD oil from marijuana dispensaries and they work well for pain and sleep. More high end dispensaries actually have ways of targeting the plants for certain diseases, including RA but... I can’t afford it.

wanttobepainfree profile image
wanttobepainfree in reply toRembrandt2nd

Yes, I have read that it depends on the maker of CBD. It is sad that pharmaceutical warehouses and insurance companies look out more for their money pockets than for the patients who are suffering before approving a good thing.

I tried it for s few weeks and it made no difference. I bought the strong stuff online as H&B is very weak. Tastes vile too so I gave up 🤨

It’s trial and error, which can be expensive. CBD brothers will give samples that make it a little more inexpensive in the long run.

Thank you ☺

I made my own. Its not hard just get some good oil and break up the flower in it and simmer for 45 minutes or so. I used it to make brownies at first but well they are fattening and hard to resist. I find a drop or two under the tongue is all it takes, I make it weak so there is little taste and it does't make me high. It does help me to relax and sleep. And I do wake up less sore. Mornings are the worst so anything that helps then is fab. It helps I live in Oregon. Seems to help with the GERD too.

Thank you. My grandmother (may she RIP) used to boil it. She would also put the plant in rubbing alcohol. She vowed by it!!!

I use it at night for sleep aid. Works a treat. No waking up with aching bones and joints now. Have tried stuff from health outlets like H&B and now using stuff from Provacan which seems to work better for me but with a stronger taste.

There are a few good idependant comparisons of suppliers and products on line. Do a google.

I had a friend who sadly passed last year from cancer not long before it was legalised in the UK. 7 years prior she was on her deathbed & told by Drs that she had only weeks to live when she was given CBD Oil to try which improved the cancer so she continued to take it which gave her the 7 extra years & she was very open about her use of it. Then last year she was raided by the police we suspect due to her openess on social media. She contacted her GP at the time to write a letter to the police which he was reluctant in doing but eventually agreed & the letter to the police openly stated had it not been for her use of the CBD Oil she would have been dead 7 years earlier. I am currently using it for a lump I found on my back & in the last few weeks it appears to have diminished in size whereas the MRI referred for over 7 weeks ago hasn't even come in. I know what I am sticking to:) I do think strengths are important especially full spectrum as the whole plant has it's own benefits & everyone is different so I do think it is trial & error as with everything as to what works for each individual.

FOR most cancers, an oil high in THC is needed.

My friend's mum has RA much worse than I do and she swears by it. She's stayed on her disease modifying drugs but has stopped taking strong painkillers.

I wouldn't be without it. It's helping me, but everyone needs to do their own research with reputable sites and then decide. There needs to be a correct way to take it. This site is very informative and from a doctor. youtube.com/watch?v=MVS6a_K...

Here in the US, they called me many times and was asked if I will accept of bottle of CBD oil, just for the price of shipping ($4.99) and each time they will tell me, this is not like the others, this is the best CBD oil and I tried it few times, never worked, not even a little

and I always cancel any further shipment. Is it a scam ?? I think there are some expensive ones that might work better but I did not tried them, you have to pay a lot for each bottle, so not for me.

I have used CBD for over a year. If you search my posts you will find what I have said about it. Still take methotrexate and a biological but really find that CBD makes a difference.

I have been researching the efficacy of CBD and THC since November 2017 and collaborating with a qualified practitioner in Spain, who is a now-glowingly healthy Stage 4 pancreatic cancer survivor. It has been a jaw-dropping experience to meet her clients, who suffer from a wide range of afflictions from arthritis to the neuronal cases like Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and Dementia. Two key issues mark her practice: 1. She doesn't dispense anything without a full consultation, whether by whatsApp or face-to- face, because prescription recommendations are unique to each person. 2. Her oils are imported from Europe and she has them tested/cerified by renowned companies. In my strongly held view nothing less is critical because in these early years, the field is full of cruel profiteering scoundrels. Criminals actually who toy with others' suffering. Some of our fellow contributors may have fallen victim to these folk.

In my experience to date, there isn't a single case, not one, which hasn't had positive, often dramatic outcomes. In January I gave some to a 35 year old man in Kazakhstan who had had severe epilepsy since he was 10 years old. Within a week he'd gone from violent daily fits to one every few days. A few days ago I had his dumbfounded doctor's report that they'd stopped. Mum was tearfully grateful. This is just one of dozens of cases I've been privileged to witness.

There are many caveats to all this, but follow points 1&2 made above and you'll get the best possible results.

God bless and go well.

Hope this helps.

I take high strength high quality CBD oil capsules and though I still take high dose morphine for widespread pain, the CBD has definitely helped my neuropathic leg pain (caused by diabetic neuropathy and probable erythromelalgia). It took several months of increasing doses before I saw any improvement at all and it was a very gradual improvement. It costs more than £100 per month and the pain is still there but but given that strong opiates and nerve pain meds didn’t touch the foot and leg pain I feel it’s worth every penny. It was pain doc who recommended it to me but ridiculously because, as I understand it, it can still only be legally sold here as a “food supplement” docs aren’t allowed to make any mention of or claims about its effectiveness or to advise on dose. And as I found out dose is complicated and not just a case of reading the percentage or mg amount stated on the bottle. Neither are those in UK who sell it allowed to make any claims about it or to offer advice so we’re v much on our own and it’s a matter of trial and error. Nor as I’ve found is it necessarily a “quick fix”. I was about ready to give up when I first noticed gradual improvements after a good few months. Then it took a few further months of higher doses to see the level of improvement I now see. If you do try it, good luck!

I have adhesive arachnoiditis and find cbd oil to be very good for the nerve pain. It can take a feeling of walking on broken glass and make it into a burn which is much more tolerable. I find it great for sciatica too. True cbd oil is made from the hemp plant and doesn’t contain THC. The only problems I have with it is that my insomnia is much worse and the cost is prohibitive.
