I have been told that I have Psoriatic arthritis, which I've been living with for a few years now. Recently a friend I trust told me about canabis oil and it's beneficial effects. I was wondering if anyone had any experience or is it just an expensive untested straw to grasp at?
CBD Oil: I have been told that I have Psoriatic... - NRAS
CBD Oil
Hi there ,
Sorry to hear you have this diagnosis . Hope you aren't too uncomfortable......
I have aggressive RD , joints affected are .....feet, ankles, knees ,shoulders, fingers, wrists ,elbows, hips .....and pretty sure my lower back and possibly neck ( specialist said few days ago that he thinks maybe could have it there .....
There is quite a bit of info on here about the cbd and some people's experiences. I'm a tad bit biased here , because I have been on it for nearly two months , and I am convinced it is helping me ....
I am still learning about it ......there is heaps of information out there , of course a lot is anecdotal......but well researched people (including respected physicians have supported the use of CBD oil for certain medical conditions.
Just do heaps of reading , research it , and I would suggest trying it . I take an activated , and nonactivated oil.As for the antinflammatory effects , I do not know how long it takes to come into effect , though certainly the activated oil , I find very beneficial for when I am in some pain . I take both of an evening , just before I go to bed , although if I have pain I do take a "rescue" spray , and that will help .
I still work , two days a week , and presently I am still not controlled (disease wise) , I'm on Enbrel (50mg) ,methotrexate (20mg) weekly injections , plus supplements . Fortunately I can manage at present with no prednisone , antinflammatory meds or analgesics.
I've always been "anti drug" use, of any kind .........this is totally different .
Anyway , good luck and I hope you find answers that you are looking for .
Take care
Karen
There have been some recent posts with information about CBD and products in the UK but I think cannabis oil might be slightly different (in having no THC). There are a fair number of posts about CBD on HU's Pain Concern forum where people discuss the importance of the quality and appropriate suppliers as well as methods of administration (sublingual, vaping etc.).
There is a prescription medical cannabis item (Sativex) in the UK but it is reserved for people with MS afaik and, even for them, it's heavily restricted. I gather the prescription price for the product is very high in the UK but a very similar formulation is readily available to those with an MM card in areas of the US for comparative buttons.
MS Trust's link about Sativex/nabiximols: mstrust.org.uk/a-z/sativex-...
I've no idea what the state of the research is for cannabis (in whichever formulation) and chronic pain as a consequence of central sensitisation.
There are a fair number of US blogs where the authors have chronic illnesses and MM cards and they have legal access to a wide variety of formulations and products (even sweets and other food items as well as forms for vaping, inhaling etc. etc.).
If you're familiar with reddit - there's a good CBD subreddit where the admins are knowledgeable and discuss whether or not there is good quality research to back up distributors' claims about strength, purity, and effectiveness (all too often, it seems that there isn't). Once you're in the correct subbreddit (/r/CBD) search for
uk pain
and it should bring up a number of relevant posts.

(I wish it was possible to arrange these by recency.)
As far as I'm aware there are plenty of hemp oils available. Most CBD oils are derived from cannabis sativa, a legally produced substance. The form of cannabis is industrial hemp; as far as I know they do not sell cannabis (Cannabis Indica - Marijuana)? I'll read more. Thanks!
Are you interested in CBD for pain management or did your friend indicate it might have disease-modifying effects (I know there's a piece in today's Daily Mail about cancer, cannabis oil and the campaign Medical Cannabis Reform Scotland).
Everything is legal here in Oregon. I started with just CBD (not hemp but a marijuana with no thc). It really didn't help with pain relief like I needed it too. So I switched to one with 2x the amount of CBD to THC and that helps more. Not perfect but it helps. I would like to try an edible but still a little scared. I use a vaporizer. The only problem with smoking it is it doesn't last long.
I have RA and recently started using CBD/THC oil and it has really help me with inflammation and pain. I really sleep well. I realize since taking starting this I am really sleeping. I don't wake up all night every time I move and I am dreaming again. Brain fog has cleared somewhat.
Wonderful ~ the night and early morning aches are the most difficult for me I'm getting very short of sleep.
Hi, I haven't read through all the replies so I might just be repeating what others already said. However I've been vaping CBD Oil for the past couple of weeks and it has helped me significantly with 1. the pain and 2. the side effects of Methotrexate. I find vaping the most effective method since the substance goes directly into your blood and has an immediate effect unlike when it's taken orally. Also, vaping won't negatively affect your lungs which is great too
I can only reccomend it, it's definitely worth to try it.
Take care,
Isa
Thanks so much. I ordered 'oil' after researching the types etc. Can any oil be vaped? I've seen the type for sale on Amazon
ThomasTom Have you joined any of the Facebook groups mentioned either here or over on the Pain Concern forum? They're possibly well placed to advise you on products and their delivery (e.g., sublingual or vaping).
I personally use a vape pen that I got here: cbdking.ch/collections/cbd-... . The oil is made for that specific type of pen so I'm not sure if all the oils can be vaped. I highly reccomend a vape pen since you can carry it around everywhere Checking the forums and Facebookgroups ITYFIALMCTT mentions below is probably a good thing anyways.
Waiting for the results of this double blinded clinical study. Supported by Health Canada & the Canadian Arthritis society. Just to let you know, that medical cannabis is legal in Canada, so it would be nice for a research paper to be printed.
Please make sure when you do buy your oil, you get actual CBD Oil. Hemp oil is not the same as CBD Oil even if they are made from the same plant. I did see a few places that google found in a search that said, "Hemp Oil", but were actually CBD Oil, once you read the ingredients. I am in the US, where Buyer Beware reigns Superior. I will try to find a link that explains the difference and post it.
Oh and don't let them fool you either, Some of these people are listing it as Cannabis Sativa which is true, both Hemp Oil and Cannabis make up the two Oils we are referring. One is Hemp Oil, the other is CBD Oil and both come from the plant Cannabis Sativa. They are processed from different parts of the plant. To make Hemp is fairly cheap, Not so for CBD Oil. If the price looks good, it is probably Hemp Oil. If the ingredients talk about Omega 3's and 5's it's hemp oil. Those oils are excellent for you health overall, but they are mot CBD Oil.

Scratch that link. It is digging really deep. I will see what else I can find.
Here this one is pretty good.

Thanks. Its expensive so getting the information is really helpful.
