I’ve tried turmeric for my chronic pain and It did not work for me and made everything I tried it in taste disgusting. I personally think cbd oil is the way to go but I haven’t tried it yet although we are searching for a seller so I can try it

Holland and Barrett, grape tree, and Lloyd's pharmacy sell it

I tried turmeric capsules. It helped but I had an allergic rash from it. Rash was on my chest and so so itchy. I read to try olive oil for the itch and it worked really well.

Someone mentioned a cream the other day Began with an N. It reminded me of the Topricin I used to use. So I used it yesterday on my knees that were so bad for days and it did help. I need more and will try on my arms tonight. I’m in US and got it at my local drugstore. Best wishes.

Sorry. It didn’t begin with an N. It was Voltarol. I dont know much about it but I think it’s a cream that needs a prescription. Topricin is over the counter.

Footfall is over counter in UK works ok

Voltarol (diclofenac) topical is the UK brand, Voltaren is the brand name in the US. It's available both over the counter & by prescription depending on strength I think Bonnie?

I tried cbd oil, apart from making me sick I didn't notice any difference, but everyone is different.

If you enter cbd in the search bar you will find quite a few posts about it.

I would like to try CBD oil but just need a kick up the ass. For some reason a bit scared

A friend has tried it for a different disease and she swears by it

I started it 3 weeks ago. Got it from Holland and Barretts. I think it helps my headaches however I have stopoed having 2 paracetamols and now have 1. I will continue tho. My husband has copd and says its made no difference so has just stopped it. Good luck.

Hi Alib. I heard that although cannabis has been legalised for medicinal purposes since last October (?) there has only been one prescription filled!! Also, this is not being sorted until October this year!!

I don’t think that any oil you can buy in this country is strong enough to work for the pain we get. I did try & it didn’t work so don’t waste your money. I wouldn’t buy online either because you can’t trust the source.

I have a friend with grand mal epilepsy & even she can’t get it. Good luck! 🙂 x

There was discussion about the difficulty of getting hold of it in the House of Lords yesterday. Final few minutes of "Today in Parliament" via the BBC Sounds app will allow you to listen to it. One or two Lords saying "people can't get it" and the Government spokesperson saying "Well, they should be able to, all the mechanisms (to prevent them doing so?) are in place". Government attitude reminds me of Jimmy Savile case, #metoo cases, CSA cases, etc - people report stuff, and the establishment says "it's not true, can't see it myself, black is white, honest indian". Rude word, rude word, rude word!

Hi I was in a lot of pain and felt I had had enough so I tried cbd oil and it seemed to work on the pain within 3hrs still had the stiffness and swelling but the pain seemed to have gone, I don't know if it was all in the mind I will have to wait and see but when I get the next flare,

I have not taken any pain killers for 10 days I normally take 2 co-codamol everyday before I do exercise, if you do try it make sure you let you Rheumy nurse know

I would say to do whatever herbal/alternative meds you try under the supervision of a qualified herbalist. I take a bespoke herbal mix that my herbalist makes for me - not specifically for my pain but seems to keep me healthy when everyone else is coming down with bugs and sickness. For my pain I have found that the following have helped... gopo rosehip tablets, vitamin d spray, Minami fish oil, and in the past curcumin / curcumin and boswelia - I buy the best quality ones I can find (viridian have been good). I have tried cbd oil but for me it didn't seem to make a difference. My rheumatologist has asked me to also try chondroitin which I haven't got around to buying yet. Hopefully once you are pregnant you may find the pain eases as during pregnancy arthritis may go into remission for the duration of pregnancy. It's really really important to check with someone qualified whatever you try taking especially if you are trying for a family. Best wishes

Thank you. Has to be worth a try. I will look up chondroitin.

Apparently only CBD in combination with THC is truly effective in reducing/managing RA pain. (see articles in Google Scholar)

But THC is the psychoactive part of cannabis, so it's not available over the counter at the pharmacy. The drug Sativex has it, but this is only prescribed (very limited) on the NHS for multiple sclerosis.

I live in South Africa and we can get CBD/THC oil online. You could try and see if they deliver overseas if you're interested.

Hi Alib

I have RA and this is my third week trying out cbd oil drops and capsuals and even cream. Im on sulpha + hydroxy and my jaw joints and fingers have been flaring bad. So three weeks ago I purchased 10ml bottles of the 6% cbd oil £45 and hemp seed oil capsuals 1000mg and I use the hemp cream on my hands. Result are not that bad meaning my jaw is a bit better and my hands do get better as the day goes on. Now I have to check with my GP later to see if my last blood test have changed at all. CRP and esr was a little high last month so its still early days and its up to you to give this a go but check with ur GP fiirst. Good thing is Im sleepin like a baby and no stress at all but do feel some pain but not as much...could this be my meds or a the cbd as it is early days. Hope this helps

Hi Alina, I'm also interested in using Cbd oil for pain relief, particularly in my elbow and shoulder joints. I wondered if any one has used it in cream/gel form to massage directly into the joints

thelmar profile image
thelmar in reply to Lulumae

I made my own balm for rubbing in. There are recipes for it on Facebook group CBD Consumers UK/eu. They also have a list of suppliers and advice for starting. My RD is reasonably well controlled at the moment but I have scoliosis and am waiting for surgery on my spine. CBD is the only thing that eases the pain. I would add though that most of the oils that you can buy on the high street are not very effective.

Thanks for that, I'll have a look.

I use the CBD oil and love it! Just be sure you get the full spectrum as it has THC in it. When I was experimenting I got some without and it didn’t work at all. I am also in US and i order mine. If you need help ordering find me on Facebook and I’ll get you connected with her. Kim Graves Morgan.

I believe the THC s banned in UK.

ilovemyhubby in reply to Alib

I’m sorry! In our state marijuana is only legal for medicinal use. But the oils are ok (I don’t understand it, I just enjoy the benefits). It has very little THC but enough to show up on a drug test.

I use CBD Oil every day. It is very helpful. But make sure where ever you buy it from, it is a good mix. I have always bought mine from a Compound pharmacy. Because they are experience pharmacist that mix it. Good luck to you.

Hello Alib, I take CBD oil and its great. I won't tell you its cured me but it has made things bearable. No flares in a year, wow. Also has corrected my blood pressure. The hard thing is there are so many on the market, its hard to know which one to take. The one I'm using is CTFO. It was the best price and quality I could find. If you would like more info email me at w.spicer@live.com
