CBD Oil

Morning everyone

I take Methotrexate and would like to know if anyone on here is taking it, and takes CBD oil . I have asked my doctor and pharmacy if I can take it, but they won’t commit themselves, and give me an answer.

So would love to know if anyone is taking it with Methotrexate.

I think its personal as I have read positive and negatives. For me I took it for a couple of months and it definately helped clear my headaches. Im on triple dmards plus other things. Good luck

I took CBD oil for a short time with MTX but had terrible headaches and nausea with it. I did not notice any improvement with my joints.

Hi Mmrr -thanks for the info here. Is Hemp oil the same as CBD oil? I just started taking the seed oil capsules. Hessie

No they are not the same. Hemp oil does not have the psychoactive chemicals of CBD oil.

If you enter CBD oil in the search box on this site, you will get some good information.

Mmrr, I agree with you that hemp oil is different from CBD oil, but think that CBD oil does not contain psychoactive chemical THC?

It might do in teeny quantities , but it might a,so depend on the supplier ? ?

I don't take it anymore now as it wasnt helping, but might be worth a try.

Hi Annie, I stopped methotrexate because of side effects. I started CBD oil about 3 wks ago. Please, please do your homework before buying. It seem everyone is selling this. You want a good company to buy from in the US. Check out these web sights, CBDorigin.com and depressionallience.org, also go on line and ask for the top five CBD sellers in US. I buy from (green roads. I don’t think any professional person give you an answer, but ask anyway. I’am trying to go off antidepressants, which I have been on for at least 20 years. I want to know how I will feel without this. CBD oil will take time! Sandra

Hi, not yet. I am trying to go off antidepressants with doctors help, this will take time. If I go to fast, I will have to start over again. I take CBD oil at night and antidepressants in the morning, I take two different brands of antidepressants. I read that CBD oil should not be taken with anti depressants. Can’t remember what it said, but I think it is in one of the articles I sent you. Also I’am suppose to take CBD twice a day, but only do it once for right now. Sandra

Hi I take cbd oil and am taking mtx you must as your consultant or GP I think you will have to try it might help but people have different results make sure to check out where you get it from x

I take methotrexate as well as CBD oil - have been for a couple of months - My rhuemy nurse said it would be ok - im not sure if it helps or not - i should have kept a diary on how i feel but didnt - i think its just a case of try it and see

Just diagnosed with PsA and am on Methotrexate. I asked my rhuematologist about CBD oil and he was non- commital. Any docs out there that will make a statement.

Sorry until now I had never heard of CBD Oil and I am 80. Methotrexate effects everyone differently me personally breathlessness and I would never take it again.

Some preliminary research suggests that CBD may help with arthritis pain. In animal studies, which may not translate to humans, CBD relieved arthritis pain and inflammation. On the other hand, results of human studies are mixed. For example, a 2016 analysis of human trials for RA, OA and fibromyalgia found that CBD improved pain and sleep, but the studies were small and of poor quality.

Even so, Daniel Clauw, MD, a professor at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and an expert in chronic pain, doesn’t write off CBD’s potential benefits and recommends it to some of his patients.

“A recent trial* showed CBD alone was effective in [the treatment of] knee OA, and it appears as though it is very safe,” he says. “Nearly all potential side effects of cannabinoids are from THC, not CBD.”

Here are his suggestions if you want to try it:

Use low doses, which seem to work best for pain relief.

Start with a CBD-only product, 5 – 10mg twice daily, and then slowly increase, going up to dose of 50 – 100mg per day. If that doesn’t help, try a CBD product with a low dose of THC.

Use only at night at first; slowly increase dose if needed.

Edibles’ effects last longer than vaping, so don’t try them until you know what CBD strain and dose work for you.

Use caution if you are 25 years old or younger and using CBD products that contain THC. This age group is at highest risk of addiction, dependency or even psychosis.

Hi Annie yes I do and have certainly felt calmer and better in my mental health more like myself I have tithe lower dose of 250 cannabis oil and just 5 drops under my tongue morning and nightime hope this helps good luck

Hi again Annie yes I am in the UK I the Midlands, and buy mine from Elf health shop in Lougborough , market street he has a L icience to sell it so it is all above board good luck x

I take hemp oil every night... I do skip injection nights but I sleep better with the help oil and lunesta I’m on. My Rheumatology’s said she was fine with it until I get to the 3-4 month mark then possible pull off some drugs so we can get a try reading if the methotrexate is a actually doing it’s job.good luck!!
