Hi, I had my big toe fused as well as had to have a screw put in my foot due to a Jones fracture. The surgery was December 18, 2018 and I am now finally beginning to wear my regular shoe and take very short walks with my Pt. I have other major surgeries and this one has been so difficult. So anyone planning on foot surgery know that it is a slow and difficult process. I also wish everyone good luck that have to foot surgery.

Long recovery after foot surgery
I had two toes straightened last year and i was in a boot for six weeks in the heatwave to say it was difficult was an understatement, but i had a laugh with it as i put sparklys on it. It was a good excuse to sit in the sun during the heatwave.xxx
An orthopaedic surgeon advised against surgery even though both my big toes are dislocated due to RA. He said he would only operate as a last resort because of complications due to my RA. I was sort of glad that the choice of whether to have an operation was decided for me. If I had been given the choice however, then I think I would have said no anyway.
I too was told the same by my orthopaedic surgeon. I have two dislocated toes as well. Last resort to operate.
I had a Jones fracture 10 years before I developed RA and even without having a screw put in, it took 11 weeks plus 2 months of physio before I could walk normally. It’s a horrible break as walking can push the broken bone apart.
I remember a few years ago my Wife has her toes straightened and had wire inserted in them it was a long process and didn’t make much difference xxx
