Reapply for PIP

The whole procedure is outrageous. I have just had to reapply after receiving it for nearly 3 years. I thought it would be a simple re application but of course it isn't, back to square one even down to your NI number and bank account details even though they already have the information and as RA is acknowledged as a degenerative disease you should be just asked for an update. I had to go to the tribunal last time and sitting in front a judge and 2 other people to explain how difficult things are even down to how difficult it is to clean your backside after using the toilet is both degrading and demeaning. The assessor had lied about my capabilities and I told them so. I know that I will have to go to another assessment and I really feel like being more aggressive and only give very short answers. I was told the last time that it wouldn't make any difference to the outcome if I let her physically examine me or not, so I let her do it, in her report it sounded like I was Linford Christie!! Not sure whether to just refuse the physical this time (any advice would be welcome). It is a very traumatic experience and the whole process should be either overhauled or scrapped. It makes you feel like you are begging for something you are justly entitled to. After all no one asked to get this wretched disease.

The process is wrong and does make people feel and look like people are begging but being ‘justly entitled’ to something is wrong also.

How can you say that. If the rules state that you are entitled to a benefit for a certain amount of disability then you are "justly entitled" to it.

Oh no! I thought folks just got an any change form? Really sorry you have to go through all that again.

I have never been asked to have a physical and i wonder if that is legal. I have had to re-apply and i had a nice young man came out to my home to do mine. xxxx

Hello, i had the same problem last year when i had to go there, i am told once you have received the letter confirming the award that you can write back to them and ask them to make the award permanent and not a fixed time period, if the problem is one that is only going to get worse over time then they might agree to that so you dont have to keep going back to them. hope that helps.

Will ask then next time as 2020 will be my third pip assessment. But as they know R. A there's no cure only drugs can help slow it down but you still have to go through the process and wait. I've also got Copd which gets worse as time goes on. It's not far they seem to punish us for being ill. But lazy people get it just handed to them. Hope you all have a good day. I'm of for a nap as only got 2hours sleep feel exhausted. Xx

After 47 years of RA one would think the DWP would realise I am disabled with no prospect of any improvement, but I too was asked to attend a F2F at a centre, not offered a home appointment. The result was the same as DLA, enhanced for both elements for "the longer term", i.e. open ended forever. They could have saved the time and expense to the taxpayer.
