Travel insurance for pre existing condition.

Hi, I have a friend due to travel abroad in October, She suffers with the very rare auto-immune disease - Plasma Cell Mucositis. She has made enquiries with Avanti, Stay Sure, Get Going and a couple of others, however neither insurer will cover her as she is also awaiting a hospital appointment for palpitations with a cardiologist. I suggested trying to get a cancellation and bringing the appointment forward as well as calling a couple of insurance agents for advise. Any suggestions you lovely people?

I used All Clear as I have multiple health problems but they would not cover anything that was still undergoing investigations. From what I understand, this is standard. I’m sorry. :( Has she tried any insurance broker?

I have many health issues and look on a comparison site, Medical Travel Compared, I end up ringing an insurer on there to make sure I am covered. It maybe like crashdoll says they may exclude her pending condition as its not considered stable. All the best. X

Hi I usually go with just travel it’s easy to put health conditions in questionnaire boxes. Book online very cheap compared to most. I have multiple conditions too and find I can be covered for everything which doesn’t usually happen with others. Doesn’t seem to matter if things are still under investigation or you’re still seeing a consultant. My friend has a very rare heart condition and see finds them very reasonable compared to some companies who want to charge her over £1000 for a weeks holiday.

Wow Deedwards, I have a list of things on my declaration and one declaration for my husband, yet this year there was no additional charge above the standard £30 for three of us. Last year added £5 to the policy due to morphine which I only took for two days but felt I had to still list it.

Where is she going?

I'm someone who has taken a risk about my health insurance when I was quoted more than the cost of the holiday (three companies and a broker) and just took out cover for the travel and luggage!
