Hi everyone hope your all having a good evening. I was told recently by my plastic surgeon that I have to have 2 joints replaced in my right hand with plastic joints which I never even knew they existed. I Would really like to know if anyone has had any finger joints replaced and what was the outcome did they really make a difference?

Plastic finger joints
A friend of mine has had knuckle joints replaced with a plastic. One in each hand, and it’s been very successful. A bit of recovery time with each one but well worth it.
Hello Julie, my mother had 4 joints replaced in her right hand the operation was very successful gave her better movement in her hands and the joints lasted for over 40 years.I hope it goes as well for you.
Thank you Jane for your reply. Did your mother have all 4 joints replaced at the same time? Wow 40 years ago I didn’t know they done operations like that then.
Hello Julie, my mother did have all 4 joints replaced at one time.I think it was pretty experimental at the time but she had virtually no use of her hand prior to operation so there was little to lose I was young and she wanted to be better able to look after me, they only said joints might last a few years (I think because operation was new so they didn't know), in fact they lasted for her whole life and she never had any trouble with them, so a great success. She did say the physiotherapy after the operation was hard work!I hope your operation is as successful for you.
Hi Julie I've had 3 knuckles on right hand replaced and the tendon on middle finger realigned due to drifting to the right, this was done again but unfortunately the finger is drifting again but the knuckles are ok. Saw hand physio after for exercises and splint.
Good luck on op. X
Hi Pulfs thank you for replying they are also doing a tendon in my hand at that same time and removing a nodule. How long did your op take and also did they do it under general anaesthetic or local anaesthetic. X
