HUMIRA - First one done!

I was diagnosed with RA coming up to one year ago and started off on MTX, then added Hydroxychloroquine and Sulfasalazine. I have laughed and cried reading some of the posts on here at times. It is great to be able to look things up that other people have experienced or have advice on - for that I thank you all. So, today I went to the hospital and did my first injection of Humira! Fingers crossed that it gives me some relief. The thought of the injection didn't bother me too much as I've been a type 1 Diabetic for nearly 40 years so have quite a bit of experience sticking sharp things in myself! I'll let you know how things so. I wasn't overly keen to start biologics but thought "got to give it a go at least". Big hugs to anyone not feeling too good at present.

Hope it works ok for you, I'm got my delivery off Humira yesterday but have to wait until Monday until the nurse comes, hopefully works better than the Benepali did as it stopped working at Christmas time xxx

Hope you don't me asking but did Benepali give you some relief? If so, for how long?

Just wondered how you were getting on with Humira - any relief? Some days I think things are improving then as if tempting fate, I have days when I'm feeling worse than I have for ages?

I think the Humira is working but my hands and knees are still sore and pretty tired at times but am certainly feeling better than I was after the Benepali stopped working and at my rheumy appt last month she stopped my Sulfazalasine,so at least that's 4 less tablets to take he ha, what about yourself are you feeling any better xxx

In general I think things are improving a bit, but sometimes I seem to take 1 step forward and 2 back. Just got to persevere. The one thing I crave is a decent night's sleep. Wouldn't it be wonderful to climb in to bed, then just hear the alarm going off, instead of waking every couple of hours! Glad to hear that you feel it's working a little bit for you. I suppose we can't expect too much too soon. Take care.

Have they suggested taking an antihistamine before the injection? That might help. I’ve been on humira for quite a while and randomly, I get a skin reaction. I found that mosquito bite cream also helps!

Funny!! I'll look some out thanks. I take fexofenadine daily and as hadn't had reactions at start thought due to that but I'll try some cream. I just used dear old savlon as in house. The tips on this site are great. I'm fairly new. Xx
