It's a nightmare. But I need it. The hot bath helps to soak my pains away. But I am struggling more and more with getting in. I kinda shove myself in and water goes everywhere. Even the dog stays out of my way?? Any ideas my knee won't bend properly and feet all swollen. Please suggest something. Some things gotta help?? Thanks. I appreciate any help. Xxx

Trying to get in and out of the bath
Do you not have an occupational therapist treza I’m sure there will have something to help you.
🙂
There is an inflatable device that is like a seat; you inflate it,, sit down on it, deflate it - then reverse the process to get out. It's pretty expensive, though.
It is called a Mangar bathing cushion. It is expensive but a ‘best buy’. I wouldn’t be without mine now. careco.co.uk/item-s-ba01007....
I have the same problem myself. Was once stuck in the bath for ages because I couldn't get out!
There are several aids out there, but I haven't looked into them.
Snap, my Chao a plumber so we had lovely walk in shower, can't get out of a deep bath any more
How do I upload pictures?, just now needs removable shower seat
Yes I got stuck in the tub too. Knees could not bend. I'm taking Thorne brand, Cucurmin Tumeric, Meriva 500-SF. Is a great anti-inflammitory. Many of the tennis plays I play with use it. I take 4 capsules at night and 4 in morning. You can order it on the web. Its worth a try.
safesteptub.com/walk-in-tubs/ Idk if they have these where you are but it’s definitely smothering to look at I think
I haven't been able to get in/out of a bath for many years....my answer is a hot shower & an electric blanket. Mine switches off automatically after 60 mins.....bliss....& no bathroom floor to mop up!
Have you looked at your local council website to see what they offer? Some places do have a disability adaption service to help fit aids, such as bath aids.
Or look at the selection available at complete care
I gave up trying to get in a bath about ten years ago! Instead I have a large walk in shower. I just wish hotels would have more rooms would have separate showers rather than showers over baths!
Ask your GP to refer you for an occupational therapy assessment for aids and adaptations at home. Or you might be able to self refer by phoning up your local council office and ask to speak to the duty worker. There are all sorts of pieces of equipment to help you in/out of the bath, or you might be eligible for a home adaptation for a walk in shower. Worth asking!
I have a rail on the dose of the wall, I use it to lower myself, have managed that with a swollen knee. Getting out , I roll over and pull myself up. It’s probably not ideal for your knee. I’m with you, my bath is my favourite thing at night.
I meant I have a rail on the side of the wall, my iPad thought otherwise🙃
I lower myself down slowly slowly. Splosh. The turn over bend on knee and struggle up. Hopefully when I start my biologics this will get better. Fingers crossed. Xx thanks for all your replys. Xx
Get your Dr to refer you to who ever I have worked with some people who have simple hoists that go over the bath and are very easy to use but I dont know where you get them - try Dr first - good luck
I haven’t had a bath in maybe 3 years! God, I’d love one.
If I were you, I’d get in touch with adult services and get a referral to occupational therapy.
They can install a bath seat, which should offer the support you need.
