Well... it turns out I have osteoporosis ๐. I was told that I'd get a letter first with my results; but no- my gp called me in for a consultation to inform me! As I already take vit D3, I'm in the process of losing weight (got my Slimming World Club 10 certificate this week having lost 10% of my initial bodyweight since starting 16th Jan 2108!) and I'm walking more everyday (around 10-12,000 steps on average) the only suggestion she could make was to drink a glass of milk every day๐. Still- not happy with the results.
As regards to me 'ol tootsies: I picked up some insoles last week and have 'bedded them in.' OMG- it's like wearing an iron bar under my instep all day! I'm hoping for - no pain; no gain... time will tell.
Hoping this finds you all well'ish ๐Looking forward to the clocks going forward this weekend and the lighter (hopefully warmer) nights next week.โฐ

Hmmm... as I was told that my ankles are collapsing which is causing a lot of pain from my feet to my hips I might give it a while. I can't see how a softer insole would throw my joints into alignment ๐ค
My initial reaction to my latest insoles was the same, like a big bar across the arch. Podiatrist suggested I try them for several days, and start with an hour or so and slowly use them more. After a couple of weeks one foot had adapted, but the other foot still felt odd. So I took them back and he took off less than a millimetre from left foot, and it made all the difference. Now they feel great and the advantage is that my feet are less tired after a walk.
Surprised that they aren't offering you more intensive supplements for the osteopororis? Are you only borderline? As I thought the general recommendations were calcium supplements and bisphonates?
But hugely well done on weight loss. Bet you feel good!
I wear birkies so comfy take couple of days to get use to.my podiatrist does recommend them. She said I could have insoles but there not so much different to my Birkenstocks x
If you have only seen a podatrist what is the diagnosis if you don't mind me asking as my podatrist was useless. I had Mortons Nuromas saw a surgeon and he operated and bingo no maore pain. and I've just had my toes straightened and a bony outgrowth removed again its great and no more badly fitting shoes and pain. I would not put up with insoles if they hurt they should not thats a fobbing off excercise. In sist on seeing a surgeon.
Im awaiting my insoles from podiatrist. They said 6 to 8 weeks. Im not in that much pain but he said it would help. Looks like I will need to be patient with them. I wear Sketchers which he said memory foam and soft shoes are not good for feet as makes them work too hard.
The physio told me to get sketchers, but Podiatrist said no, they are too soft and bendy - need to wear running shoes. I got some and my ankles are much easier.
Should definitely be prescribed bisphoshonates with osteoporosis. However, not sure if it's only a certain stage etc. Worth asking the question though.
