I’m currently experiencing a bout of heartburn. I’ve already taken about 3 rolaids, but nothing has happened yet, and the pain is just increasing. I was wondering if taking Tylenol would help with the amount of pain i’m experiencing?
And if anyone else has some tips to help me fight this heartburn fast, PLEASE share them! I’m absolutely desperate! x

I guess you are in the US? In the UK you can get things like zantac/ranitidine or omeprazole over the counter. Both are more effective than rolaids. But the best thing would be to see a doctor to get checked out, as there ought to be a reason why you are suffering. If you are on meds for RA I'm surprised you haven't already been prescribed something to stop this happening.
I'm not sure that the two meds you mention, an anti depressant & the birth control pill, will give you heartburn. Neither do I know if you can buy ppi's or antacids such as omeprazole over the counter in Canada but I think that's what you're needing for relief. Can you not get to see your primary care or GP easily?
Can I ask Nanda, do you have a Rheumatoid Disease, RA, PsA or any other associated arthritis? Just wondering if it could be one of your meds you take for it. Or, if you take an NSAID for inflammation, ppi's should be prescribed alongside as they can cause irritation of the oesophagus & that leads to heartburn. The thing is if you don't take a ppi with NSAIDs they can increase the chance of gastroeosophageal reflux disease (GERD) & it's obviously preferable to not have that.
Ultimately if this is a common problem you need it checking out so that means starting with seeing your GP.
I take Zantac daily for heartburn...it does the trick! I am also on birth control and it gives me awful heartburn! Zantac is nice because it works right away and can be taken as needed...unlike Prilosec or omeperazole that needs to be taken daily and may take a few weeks to work.
