Curcumin

Thinking of starting this, I am asking for any recommendations on capsules and strengths. There are a lot of products of differing strength, amounts and price, I would appreciate some guidance.

Merely differing ‘opinion’, Peterborough67: bypass Curcumin & go straight for the Turmeric (+ Black Pepper) if you can tolerate it. (Explained in link below.)

Suspecting more ‘bang for the buck’ (effectiveness-wise) going turmeric (spice powder) + black pepper ingested via smoothie or meal — rather than pricier Curcumin capsules 💊 , Peterborough67? 🤔 (Merely opinion.)

If you’ve access to Turmeric Root ( realfoods.co.uk/ProductImag... ) even better. 👍👍

Scroll towards bottom for gobs of info ( healthunlocked.com/cure-art.... ) to make your eyes bleed. 😂 🙃 Kindly take note of the ‘☠️☠️ Note’, Peterborough67.

Wishing you well on your curcumin/ turmeric adventures! ☺️ 🙏 🍀 🌺 🌞

Thanks. Plenty of research material there.

Don't understand Kai's point. Curcumin is the actual active element within the turmeric root. So to be effective it is the amount of curcumin that is important, not turmeric.

Curcuma is also the Latin name for turmeric, perhaps that's where confusion has arisen.

Natures Best promote the strongest Curcumin. And from what I have read and hear for it to work black pepper is recommended.

My other half has arthritis and has been taking it for a week (when I remind him). Will update in a few weeks.

I had very positive experience of curcumin - I bought online from viridian who are a reputable good quality brand recommended by my herbalist. They are brilliant by email answering my questions on dose and which specific products would be best along with contraindications with my prescribed medication. (I came off arcoxia and managed my pain releif with curcumin, curcumin and boswelia (taken alternate days), and GOPO rosehip supplement. I also used magnesium citrate, and magnesium spray. It was only when I came off those things to await my THR operation that I realised just how effective they had been for me. Sadly I still needed the operation as the severe damage to my hip had occurred 30 years ago before widespread use of things like Mtx or biologics. All the best - would be keen to hear how you get on. Also worth noting when I started the GOPO it took about 4 or 5 weeks to notice a difference. And it can all add up in cost too. But depending on your specific diagnosis and what stage things are at might well be worth a try. (My own opinion is that it's been great for ongoing pain management but I personally wouldn't use it in place of disease modifying drugs if I had that option - my 5 year old daughter has JIA and to prevent long term damage she's on mtx and not natural alternative meds. )

I take Terry Naturally brand extra strength with pain relief—called Curamin. It is pricy but I generally take only one per day as an anti inflammatory since I am now on Enbrel too. I have been taking Curamin for years and notice a huge difference when I stop for a while. I’m not pain free, but oh it can get so much worse.

Thankyou for replying. Sorry to take so long to respond but my RA has flared and taken over. I plan to give Curamin a try.

Hi Peterborough67. I have bought some Turmeric capsules from Holland and Barrett and advised to take 400mg twice a day. Now I'm home and Googling side effects, I find that hair loss/thinning can occur while taking it. As I am currently off MTX and Hydroxy for 3 months because of excessive hair loss/thinning, I'm worried! I just need help with the awful pain, and my husband keeps telling me try Turmeric,
