I have had RA for 5 years now. I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy done last week. The doctor said my colon looked good but I have Gastritis , IBS and he saw 100 stomach polyps and sent a few to be biopsied but that he thought they were benign but he wanted to make sure. I received a letter from him saying he did a biopsy to check for h pylori and it was negative so my question is have any of you ever had a problem with stomach polyps and if so how were they treated and were you told that they were caused by your RA?

Ra and stomach polyps
RA meds connection to GI problems is an established fact. Diffrent drugs have different risks. GC seem to be the number one causing GI problems, taken together with other Dmards, Nsaids or Biologics increases risks also for inflammed polyps.
So problems not caused by RA but more so of the meds
I had polyps (benign) at about the same time as RA started, BEFORE starting meds. Keep coming back, being removed to check, luckily still benign. Personally I think many auto immune diseases start with a leaky gut and healing that can help. Not a medic though! Good luck xx
The study states that problems with polyps are connected to RA meds, not the cause of polyps.
Never said caused by RA. I had one removed.scared me saying if get over certain size can lead to cancerous. Have to now have 3 yearly colonoscopy I have diverticulitis too
I had an endoscopy in 2015 and they found polyps in my stomach, had biopsies done on ones they removed and everything was okay. Did some googling and found out that stomach protectors can cause them. I’d been taking them for around seven years then. x

My sister had stomache issues. She does not have RA or Crohns like I do. She had stomache pain and diagnosed with gatroitis. They did a scope and she has lots of stomache polyps. They took many biopsy but nothing cancerous. My mother died of stomache cancer originating from a certain type of ulcer so this is a concern in my family. My sisters doctor told her polyps are common and not the be of worry about them.
