Well saw my consultant at Nuffield on Friday he told me my osteoarthritis in my knees is getting worse as it's now a grade 4 which is severe 😔And I don't feel any benefits of being on methotrexate yet this is my fifth week hands are getting worse and finding it increasingly difficult to get upstairs now .

Are you taking any painkillers for your Osteoarthritis?
I don't think Mtx will help with the OA pain...but it should stop any RA in your Joints causing any more damage.
Ask about painkillers next time you see one of your doctors...or give the rheumy nurses a ring.
Hi we started our Meds together I don't feel any benefit off it either. My consultant said don't feel any change after 6 months STOP! I feel after I take the tabs every joint Being attached and I'm shattered I'm still popping the zappain and gabaphentin continually through out the day xx
Hi hun I don't feel any benefit from it apart from feeling very tired and sickly when I take it x
I feel sickly definitely the day after taking them. Yes and tired I'm going to push myself and go the gym this week even if I only swim 😂xxx
Are you taking Folic acid after the methotrexate? The GP can prescribe anti sickness tablet if you mention it. Good luck 😊
Ahh thanks yes I'm taking folic acid, I'm up for work at 05:30 and popping my tabs so on a empty stomach doesn't really help 😕 by 08:00 I can manage a banana xx
I feel for you. I have OR in both my knees and have damage in the meniscus. The cortisone injections has worn of and the pain is so sever. I have noe slept for 3 days now because of the knee pain and sharp pain in my tibia. It is driving me nuts. I take paracetamol every four hours and trimodal everyday. My stomach is burning and my head feels so heavy. I feel exhausted.
It does take a while for the meds to kick in. But has your rheumy mentioned knee replacements? I've had two now (each knee) and they went very well. I did quite a bit of physio beforehand which helped. One within six months of the other. It really has helped, its taken me a while to get back my fitness, but it was dreadful before, I found it hard to get up from normal chairs and things like that. I wish I'd had it done earlier.
Thought you had a stair lift to get you upstairs?
