Well yesterday we went down the hospital for blood tests and while i was down there i popped up to see my rheumy about what happened with my left index finger during the night. Well my nurse wasn't there and another nurse managed to get me into see a specialist who was not my dr.,but because his patient hadn't turned up agreed to see me. Well i wish i hadn't bothered, his manner was not the best, maybe because his patient had failed to turn up i don't know. He said why didn't you ring the helpline,i told him as a rule i would ring, but as we were down here i popped up and that is what i usually do and the nurse will always manage to see me and allay my fears. He then said why didn't you go to your gp,another question and i said the gp would only tell me to contact my rheumy as it is beyond them most of the time and if i need a drugs change only the rheumy dept could change them. I said if he likes i will go,he changed tack then. Anyway he checked my finger over and he said it looks like wear and tear and he would get a ultrasound done on it and get me to see the OT. Then we looked at another car at the garage as next year our motorabililty scheme runs out and we was looking at a different car. Then home we came and hubby rang the drs and got me an apt. in the evening. Turns out i have Bronchitis(excuse spelling) so more antibiotics for me. I just wonder when i will ever feel well again.
Hugs to you all and i hope you have a lovely weekend.xxxxx

Sometimes it's not just their "medical expertise"...... we need ......sometimes it is just some reassurances and quick explanations.... (if they are rushed for time) ....
my first flare of my hand and wrist .....I thought it was the ra ....but I wasn't sure ......I just knew I was in utter agony and I just needed someone to "please help me". Went , with my husband , to my new rheumy. I actually couldn't believe it ...he spent the whole time on his computer , only gave my hand a very quick glance , from across his desk....
He ended up increasing my methotrexate .
. I just think somehow I would of felt so much better, inside, if he had picked up my hand , gave it a bit of a look and then told me ....u know like this is it , this is ra , you are having what we call a flare .....etc etc etc ....you'll be ok ....it won't go on forever like this .....etc etc etc ....
anyway ,
I hope you are feeling a little bit brighter now Sylvi.
Are you still having nice warm weather there?
I hope you have a nice weekend , with no dramas. I hope your finger pain has settled down . I did find ice pack helped me at times for the hands and fingers.
Oh, Sylvi, I do feel for you. It must feel as if your problems are never ending! I feel your pain! 😂
Sorry you are having these problems !! You were lucky to see someone at rheumy clinic because where I am it's probably easy to see the Queen than walk into see rheumy doctor !!! I've had problem with my right index finger for about 6 months now, so terribly painful and I can't straighten it, but then sometimes it moves involuntarily, so weird. Rheumy had a look on last visit and called it trigger finger due to inflammation. I also got duyptrens (not sure of spelling) in both thumbs and the pain is hell, goes up my wrists. He upped my methotrexate injections yet again and that was it !! Meanwhile I am wearing my braces but they not really helping much, It's all part of the ordeal of RA !!! When I'm sitting relaxing I put my wrists/hands outstretched resting on cushions on the arms of chair, it seems to help the pain a little, Also I rub brufen gel on hands and wrists but meanwhile the wretched pain continues and it's so bad I can't do my insulin injections or put my eye drops in, good job hubby retired and does these things for me, even though he nearly takes my eyes out, lol !!!! 😳😳😳. Hope your finger eases quicker than mine Sylvi and you can get some relief from the pain xxxx💕
