Hi, Personally with so much family history of heart and valve disease i would get a second opinion from another Dr. I am not sure how old you are but have you had a health check where they do all the checks for risk of Heart attack etc?

It is a hard one but asking doesn’t hurt does it? My dad had a huge attack and passed away very young but things were very different back then. My husband also has heart problems but never had an attack and our son was checked because his condition is hereditary he is fine but the future is impossible to predict really. Neither have ever smoked and that is just one of the factors that can cause heart problems. So although I’m very sorry to read of your familial worries I’d suggest talking about it with Your GP can’t do any harm but worrying unnecessarily about your potential risk might.

The British Heart Foundation have an excellent website you might like to look at. You can phone their helpline for advice and reassurance as well as speaking to your GP.

ECG s don’t tell you much. Mine is always normal when resting.

I have a number of heart issues which showed up as a result of an MRI, tilt table test, Kardia monitoring and echocardiogram. I now have to have an echo annually and see consultant on 1 Dec (phone call). I’m 64 but have had palpitations since I was about 58.

My GP nephew said my initial results looked OK. They are generalists and not specialists in heart issues Assuming you have RA we are at much greater risk of heart disease anyway. I would in addition to advice given above phone NRAS helpline and would ask GP for a referral to cardiology. Alternatively rheumatology could refer you.

I am sorry for your recent loss. X

I am very sorry for your loss Vonnie..however don’t start to worry too much…but with your family history, I would ask maybe your rheumatologist rather than that dismissive GP to refer you for some preliminary cardiac tests.

Sorry you lost your last brother and so young.I can't give you medical advice, but with your family history I think it would be a good idea to have your heat checked. All the best.

so sorry about your brother. But push to get a proper cardiac assessment, just in case!

As others have said, given your families' history of cardiac events, I'd be wanting heart checks. It may be that you're absolutely fine but some reassurance would help stop you worrying. I'm so sorry to hear of your brother's passing. Sending hugs

most doctors ask about family history so it must have some relevance! Speak to someone else!💐🙋🏻‍♀️
