Another question re epidural and deep sedation for my knee replacement do I have to have a catheter I dont like catheters

Is there some other reason why you might need a catheter? They will want you up and out of bed asap, and there should be no reason why you should need a catheter for a straightforward knee replacement with an epidural.

Why would you need a catheter Rocky? It's not standard for TKR so unless you have other issues that may require your being catheterised, I wouldn't have thought so .

Thank you Marie I asked about the catheter because if you have an epidural you will be numb from the waist down

I had an epidural and didn't have a catheter and it was all ok and great outcome.

Hi I had an epidural for my knee replacement and didnt have a catheter, yes everything was numb but soon returned to normal, and was up the same afternoon, xx
