I would think so, diclofenac (Volterol) being an NSAID, topical in this instance, should be ok but the person to ask is your Rheumy really, just to be doubly sure. Was the prescriber aware you're on Humira?

Thanks for the heads up, I forgot to mention at the pharmacy. I will go ask tomorrow to be completely sure, been online, it's seems ago.

Cheers.😊

I'm not sure if this is the norm because I'm not on biologics so not had cause to question but we recently had a member surprised the Pharmacist at her chemist didn't know about biologics. This is why I suggested asking your Rheumy but your Pharmacist may know, they can't shoot you for asking!

I think medicine is so compartmentalised these days unless the physician is a rheumatologist they are unlikely to recognise the name of a Biologic. I recently spoke to a consultant gastroenterologist & he had no knowledge of the,& surprisingly had no patients presenting with side effects from them.

Don't know if that's good or bad!

Yes, that does seem to be the case, little wonder Pharmacists aren't likely to know about biologics. They won't come across them in dispensing either will they?

I see the Gastro not having knowledge of biologics & no patients with symptoms from them as a good thing.... as long as there are plenty more who can say the same!

No...you are right......general pharmacists wouldn't dispense Biologics over the counter would the the Year?

As I understand it Biologic infusions are created for each individual.....some have "add ins" but not necessarily all the same.

When I have my infusions there is usually another person having the same drug infused, but we are double ID checked & the specialist nurses who administer it read aloud what is in the infusion & check it against the prescription on my notes ....they always do that in pairs.

That is probably one of the reasons it takes such a long time!

I'm off for my 7 hrs on Monday......thanks to the sedative that's included I spend most of the day dozing...being fed hot & cold drinks & a packed lunch!! But so far the Biologic seems to be working...so what is a day on a drip compared to the Alternative?

Dicliofenac voltarol I had these tablets many year ago I cannot remember what for but they are quite a powerful tablet. Please check with your chemist before you take anything as drugs kill especially if you are already on drugs

Yes it's fine, I've been on Humira for 8 years and have been on oral diclofenac for most of that. I recently stopped taking oral diclofenac so sometimes use the topical gel, doctor and pharmacist ok with it.

I am on both the oral diclofenac and 40mg. Injections of Humira weekly. I have an app on my phone that I list all my drugs and it cross references and let's me know if there are any contraindications with my meds and foods as well.
