1st Humira injection

Had my first injection on Thursday. I was wiped out on Friday. Now I can't sleep at all. Is this a usual side effect. Also does anyone know if I should be taking Folic Acid?

Hi Paula ? I used to get headaches and upset stomach for 24 hrs also felt a bit groggy ,that passed after the first few injections and I find humira is controlling the RA.

I suggest you contact your rhumy nurse and let them know what's happening ,obviously you should get a answer before you next injection is due . I don't take folic acid since I stopped mtx.

I take Humira and have never been advised to take folic acid. Humira suppliers (mine are healthcare at home) have a pharmacist who you can call for advice like that.0333 103 9499. Check these guys are your supplier first.

First day after Humira I do feel tired I think as I got used to the drug this lessened.

It has been a wonder drug overall for me, hope it is for you too

I've been taking for 1 1/2 years and never noticed this effect or heard of it, but it's certainly possible. Like the commenters said, probably something that will pass quickly but wouldn't hurt to advise your doctor.

No, as far as I am aware, Humira does not cause sleepiness but the fatigue associated with RA, especially if you are anaemic does. Folic acid is necessary if you take methotrexate not for ,Humira alone. Your rheumatology professionals should tell you this, surely? .

I have been on humira for 5 months and cant sleep more than 3 hours .if im lucky . There's time i only get 45 minutes of sleep
