Has anyone had new onset psoriasis while on HUMIRA injections? Could you let me know how long it lasted etc. please?
Humira and psoriasis: Has anyone had new onset... - NRAS
Humira and psoriasis
I think this is a recognised side effect of Humira. You should report it as soon as possible to your rheumatologist though, as they may want to consider changing you to a different antitnf.
Yes, it is a recognised side effects. I am on humira but fortunately, not had this effect. Please do speak to your rheum or rheum nurse ASAP.
I am not sure if the Humira is causing the psoriasis or if you are developing psoriatic arthritis. My husband had horrible psoriasis for years. The dermatologist never mentioned arthritis, but should have because my husband was complaining of joint pain. The company doctor (God bless that man) suggested that my husband see a rheumatologist. He diagnosed psoriatic arthritis (a very close cousin to RA). Humira not only helped the pain but cleared his skin for several years. Now he gets a little psoriasis especially in the winter.
I've been on Humira for just over 2 months. I was originally diagnosed with PsA but this was revised to Spondyloarthropathy. I don't have psoriasis ( my son does) but I am keeping a close eye for any skin effects! Clemmie
I'm on Enbrel and not Humira. I developed what the doc said was a form of psoriasis and looked like it was going into remission. I had it on my scalp .elbows and feet. It is now slowly clearing up. good luck to you.
Yes, I did. Never had bad skin in my life and I'm 61. Had to come off Humira 2 months ago but not been put on another anti tnf yet and it shows. I was doing really well on Humira for over 2 years before this happened. Started on my lower legs and still not completely gone yet although it's well on it's way. Think I would rather have put up with the psoriasis than feel as bad as I do now!
Hi Benjijen, Thanks for letting me know that I am not the only one! I see it is listed in the side effects on Humira leaflet. I am 74 and have been on HUMIRA for 2 years and this came out of the blue. How long did you have the psoriasis and did any particular creams help? Mine also started lower legs, now arms and legs are covered with it. Thanks for your reply.
Hi, I found E45 cream helped a bit but not really with that on my legs which was quite bad. It crept up on me really as to begin with I thought it was just a bit of dry skin, but then it started the flaking and was quite sore and raw on my legs. Had it in one form or another about 9 months before being taken off Humira. All cleared now except for a bit of dry on my lower legs but hopefully that will go soon. Only on sulfasalazine now so most of my other symptoms of this wretched disease have reappeared! Will have to wait and see what they put me on next. Good luck with you meds.
