Hi All, it's lovely to have a forum where we can share each other's problems.
As I have severe cramp problems in my legs and feet every night giving me sleepless nights, I even have a bed cradle so that the duvet does not touch my legs so there is no weight on them, has anyone got any suggestions as to a remedy.

I haven't completely got rid of them but these things have helped
making sure my legs and feet are warm from bathing them before bed
massaging the muscles, especially the calves, and doing muscle stretches before bed
having a pillow at the bottom of the bed under the cradle to stop me pointing my toes
I have tried all sorts of supplements over the years....not found anything that helps me but I do eat a varied Mediterranean style diet so not likely to be deficient in trace elements.
Yes I suffer too sometimes - but stretching exercises and massaging with a cream before bed help as oldtimer said. I also take magnesium which has already been mentioned. Dare I say it but an old wives tale is put a tablet of soap under the bottom sheet by the feet - at least that is what is recommended in my neck of the woods!
It really is a nuisance - wrecked every day from disturbed sleep - hope you find something to help a bit.
Looked at what Mayo Clinic had to say. Depleation of calcium, potassium and magnesium was mentioned as a possible cause. This was interesting since potassium insufficiency has been shown in recent research in RA patients.
Goodmorning one and all. I have the same problem and for me I have found it is worse on days that I possibly don't drink enough. Not the answer for everyone but one that I have found works for me. So I try to make sure that I have plenty to drink and it does seem to keep the night cramps at bay
OH had this really badly a few weeks ago and not just at night. It got much worse after starting on methotrexate.
He started making an effort to drink MUCH more, including Indian tonic water, and eating bananas. I don't know if was a coincidence but it has largely stopped happening.
Hello Jackadoodle, I use to get horrible leg & feet cramps at night in bed. The only thing I could do is to get up & slowly walk them out by walking around my house. I did that by slowly bearing weight on my feet. They were so bad I don't know what Would have happened if I had not got up because the cramps just got tighter & tighter. They were even going clear up my thighs at times. Horrible. It was right before I was diagnosed with RA. Someone suggested that I might take magnesium or that perhaps I was dehydrated. I started drinking more water & that seemed to do the trick. But before I knew what to do I suffered with them for a couple of months. Some nights being worst then others. I hope this helps you out. Let us know what worked for you🌻
