Hello. I have had a steroid injection today in my bottom. Does anyone know how long it takes to help with pain? X

For me by the next day. But I dId find after a few injections they were less effective.

I belive the longer lasting one takes a bit longer to kick in.

Hope it works soon. The relief is enormous when it does

I had a 120mg depo-medrone general 4 months ago, took a week to have effect. I had one great day totally pain free then zilch but that one day was wonderful. The thing is everyone responds differently so it's not easy to say but I had 40mg d-m in my shoulder recently & that's been effective. I hope yours helps, would be nice to have relief over Christmas.

I was feeling much, much better within two days. I've had a couple now, and the relief is totally amazing.

I understand they work for some people, sometimes but not everyone every time.

Fingers crossed for you.

I had my first injection in November started working the next day, it was lovely being pain free, just starting to get pain back now. Hope it works well for you.

I had an injection 1 week ago and I am virtually pain free and finally looking forward to Christmas. I hope you soon feel the benefits.

Not to be a Scrooge especially at this time of year but there is a small possibility the jab might not work for you.

I'm afraid I'm very frustratingly one for whom that blessed relief never came.

Oral Prednisalone..... Different story, pretty much instant relief at a high dose but I sincerely hope the injection works for you and kicks in just in time for Christmas.

Me to injections never work but steroid tablets prednisalone do.

I'm the other side if the coin Mandalou..... Oral Prednisolone had no effect on pain for me but had horrible psychological effects, but 80mg Depo can keep me pain free for 12 weeks....but admittedly the pain does come back...it's not permanent in any way.

it seems everyone has a very individual reaction to steroids.

Good Luck to everyone waiting for a jab to kick in!

Hi there. I've had some depos that work, and some that do nothing much. I had one about five weeks ago. I felt great for a couple of weeks, but sadly they always seem to wear off quicker than they're supposed to for me. It was still worth the 2 weeks of bliss.

Hope it works well for you.

I've only had one steroid jab. That was when I first presented at Clinic. It took 48hrs to work and boy oh boy it was fab! I was normal again. It worked for 6 weeks.

Had a 120mg steroid injection in September and another two weeks ago. Both have had no effect whatsoever in fact they've made it worse. Went back to see consultant. Seems there are some people for whom steroids make things worse not better and I'm on of them

Should help reduce inflammation in a day and in turn reduces pain and normally makes me rather high which is nice :-) however I'm not allowed any more due to blood pressure and joint damage and they may have seen me dancing like a crazy fool !

It varies but for me, a few days to feel improved and almost a week to feel it's full effects. I'm not sure the science behind it but if you rest as much as you can for first 48 hours, it does seem to help.

I've had a few before along with steroid tablets for ten days which usualy works well ,yesterday I just had the steroid injection upto now I cannot feel any difference next Tuesday I'm starting methotrexate again on half the normal dose hoping I don't get a bad side effect on lower dose hopeing to build up to full dose within six weeks I just get a bit despondent and frustrated with all the pain stiffness inability to do everything myself so I know this will be no help to you but I at least you know your not alone suffering these things there are many more of us out there
