Hello,
Just wondering if anyone else who takes metho by needle gives it in a certain area-I give it in my leg-would like to switch to another place??? Thanks
I use my thigh. One side one week, the other the next.
The instructions say you can use the tum but I've never fancied that.
I have used both areas. I found the tummy area better for me no bruising. But unfortunately I now take Humira as well so use my upper leg for Mtx and tummy area for my Humira.
I was told either leg or either side of your belly button /your tummy. I keep to my legs, on a personal level π
As I can't inject in my legs due to the removal of lymph nodes in my groins, I inject with needle into my tummy alternating sides. I have not had any bruising or bleeding and I have done it 7 months. X
I inject into either leg with no problems I do not fancy doing it in my stomach X
I use to inject it into tum and enbrel into my leg but swapped them over last year because I found out that Enbrel doesn't sting so much if I do it into my tum. My hospital have a clinic on a Wednesday morning for people who don't like injecting it and they do it into your arm. If you do it in your tum don't do it near your tummy button and in your leg not near your lady bits! ....well that's what the nurse old meπ xx
I take MTX and Tocilizumab and have only ever injected into my tummy. I haven't had any issues.
Does your mtx injection site bleed? Mine does. Since I've been on the tocilizumab I bleed and bruise much more easily. Just as bad as when I was on steroids.
You can use your stomach as well. I do mine in my thigh as I inject my tocilizumab in my stomach. X
I've injected MTX into my tum for 7 years, pinch an inch & inject, still at 90Λ, a few inches either side of my navel, it's the way it was demonstrated when I first started them. When I get my injections I write on the box L or R, that's so I don't need to delve deep to remember the side I injected the previous week. I did try into inject into my thigh once but it hurt so I went back to my tum! I have caught the odd capillary before now, well after doing it so long you're bound to, it releases a spot of blood & bruises a little but it's not a problem, just saying so you're aware if you happen to do the same. I hope you find it better if you try changing.
I was told either thighs or abdomen alternating sites. I mainly alternate upper things as I tend to bruise in abdomen and also stings more than thighs
I've always hated injecting into my thighs. I much prefer injecting into my stomach. Pinching at inch isn't difficult for me. I find it less painful. If you do more than one injection per week, then make sure you don't inject in the same side, then you're all good.
Thanks
I too prefer my tummy but this is if you are using a subcutaneous needle. I prefer the ultra fine, short one that are used most commonly for diabetics. You won't even feel it.
I was told to either use my thigh or stomach. Since the stomach area has more fatty area to pinch, I use that. I alternate sides every week and no issues at all. Painless, no bruising, etc. I feel the pinching and not the needle.
I tend to swap about from stomach to thigh each week as I take mtx injections and Benepali injections the odd time I get bruising but not all the time
I take Rasuvo 20mg (methotrexate) I shoot mine 2" away from my belly button, just rotate the circle areas. I have never done my legs
I use Humira also...I do both in my stomach fat.....I'm hoping it will melt it off HAHA not that lucky π
I give it to myself in my stomach. 3 finger widths from your belly button. I switch sides every week. It's working well although it can leave a bruise.
The nurse got me to pinch the skin together and put it in my stomach.
I alternate just either side of the belly-button so it's not the same place all the time.
I give it in my stomach area
