Hi and welcome

I found the same on steroids......would wake up after a few hours and be wide awake! It was such a relief to get shut of the pain that I just relaxed into it.....I wasn't tired in the day either because of the steroid effect.....in the nighttime I made a cuppa and sat in bed with my iPad. It didn't last long for me as had steroid injections and they gradually wear off....I'm not sure with oral steroid.

Hope they have settled the flare up.

I am only on them for a month so I had better make the most of it.

Yeah,i remember getting all my Christmas shopping done in the small hours 😉. Made it all feel a little better. I've not needed any steroid for the past 2 years....yeah....

Hi welcome.

Unfortunately being tired and not able to sleep is normal.

My GP has given me sleeping tablets to take every other night, in the hope that I can break the cycle.

Hope you rest soon.

Jacqui

Yes, I'm afraid so. They also make me a bit manic. I painted the whole of my flat. Unfortunately, I will have to repaint the living room as it looks like it's been done by a chimpanzee on speed!

Enjoy a few pain free weeks😄

That made me laugh. Chimpanzee on speed. lol.

Ha. You should see my living room. That would make you laugh more!

You call it one of a kind and ahead of the trend. I am sure that we will see it in the fashion mags soon.

I was told by a gp once that steroids are basically an upper so not being able to sleep would definitely be a side effect. I used to get bad night sweats when I was on steroids. X

Hi Sharon,

I'm sorry you can't sleep, it does make things seem worse. There has to be some good things about steroids! They are great for short term pain and inflammation. I've been on them constantly since 2001. Had a really high dose during a bad flare in Jan and got so much done it was incredible. House work and clearing out cupboards is really not my thing but I couldn't stop! It did fade though and sleep and activity returned to normal for me.

Hope it's the same for you

Hi I am on 40mg steroids for 14 day reducing by 5mg per week down to 1mg for a week then none. I take 2 amitriptyline and 1 Pre-Gabalin and they help me sleep. Some nights I get between 5 to 7 hrs sleep, but before taking then I was only getting around 3 to 4hrs. So if you go see your GP then I would think that they could give you something to help you sleep. Good luck and I hope that you get some shut eye. 👀 Take care XX
